At Lilly in Germany, we are currently planning and building a high-tech production facility in Alzey (Rhineland-Palatinate), which will expand our production of injectable drugs from 2027 and employ up to 1,000 specialists. To make the most of our innovative production site, we are looking for motivated reinforcements who, together with us, will ensure the supply of Lilly medicines in Germany, Europe, and worldwide, in line with the three Lilly values of "Excellence," "Integrity," and "Respect for People."
Join our Lilly team in Alzey and start as soon as possible as Associate HSE / Sr. Associate HSEResponsibilities
- Assist with the development of the HSE operational readiness plan for Lilly Alzey as a collaborative and energetic member of the HSE team
- Lead implementation of assigned HSE programs including lockout/tagout, PPE, hazard communication, ergonomic hazards, confined space entry, machine guarding, working at heights, powered industrial vehicles, and health and safety risk assessments
- Support the project team as a key HSE stakeholder providing input on health and safety-related design decisions, construction, and startup plans while ensuring compliance requirements are met
- Develop and roll out safety and health programs, procedures, tools, and HSE management systems including training, mentoring, and onboarding of new staff
- Build strong partnerships with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to manage change and ensure safe, compliant startup of new systems
- Serve as the site key contact and HSE program expert with in-depth knowledge of applicable corporate, local, state, and federal requirements
- Coordinate, complete, and submit internal and external reporting on time, incorporating second-person verification as needed
- Support operational areas in understanding regulatory requirements and implementing compliant solutions
- Complete internal HSE audits, lead/support incident investigations, trend HSE data, compile metrics, and develop long-term improvement plans
- Serve as liaison between site, regulatory agencies, and contractors
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science (e.g., chemistry, biology, occupational safety/health, industrial hygiene)
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in pharmaceutical or chemical environments
- Demonstrated experience applying Health and Safety regulations and developing HSE programs
- Authorization to work in Germany required — Lilly does not provide visa sponsorship for this role
- Desirable qualifications in the field of waste management, fire protection, explosion protection, machine safety, hazardous materials management, management systems (14001/45001/50001),

- Experience leading cross-functional teams and interfacing with HSE regulatory agencies
