About the team

Our team is responsible for the authentication experience at e Bay. We know that luxury buyers want the real deal and e Bay’s Authenticity Guarantee provides peace of mind when shopping online, and we are looking for a Watchmaker to help deliver trusted experiences to our customers. About the role:

At e Bay, you will be responsible for the inspection and authentication of modern and vintage luxury watches. You'll work closely with your teammates and other operational departments throughout the day, ensuring e Bay buyers receiving high quality, authentic products.

The ideal candidate will be a driven, organized, innovative thinker who is comfortable working across a variety of departments. The authentication operations team is essential to forging and maintaining lasting relationships with our millions of customers, serving as the primary contact between buyers and sellers.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Inspect, identify, and authenticate timepieces across all luxury watch brands,
• Inspect internal and external components and function of watches to determine authenticity, including skillfully opening and reassembling the watch
• Inspect watches for missing components such as screws, pushers, etc.
• Work with e Bay software and technology systems to assess and document orders throughout the operational process. Keep detailed notes and enter accurate data into our authentication database, including release information, product SKUs, production dates and condition of orders
• Ensure that gear trains, escapements, lubrication, torque, and precision tolerances often measured in microns are managed and maintained throughout the inspection process
• Ensure the proper handling of watches being conscious of parts removal, avoiding scratching or blemishing surfaces or parts, and ensuring proper reconstruction after inspection
• Ensure each watch is clean after each inspection
• Proactively work with various Authenticity Guarantee teams and departments to optimise operational processes and best service our customers

The person we’re looking for:

• Knowledge of handbags across all brands, including originals, luxury and re-releases
• An eye for detail, with a precise and analytical mindset
• Comfortable with technology platforms
• Highly organized with demonstrated attention to detail
• Dedicated to empowering the team around them and behaving inclusively in all that they do
• Uphold our e Bay beliefs and deliver our company DNA with impact
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours as occasionally needed, including weekends and holidays, to meet business needs
• Must be able to hold and move boxes (up to 20kg)
• Prior experience of authentication and watchmaking desired
