--- About the role...

As the Director of Product Management for the new Short-form Learning Area, you'll own the core of Duolingo: the bite-sized, gamified lessons that instruct learners in a fun and effective way. You will manage a team of senior product managers to improve our existing exercises, develop new ones, and use AI to teach as effectively as possible.

In addition to your product leadership responsibilities, as Area Lead, you'll partner with your engineering and learning co-leads to lead a group of 75 cross-functional colleagues across engineering, product, design, and learning and curriculum. Together, you will make sure learning a language on Duolingo is effective and delightful. You'll also partner with other product leaders across the company to ensure we're delivering a cohesive experience across learning formats.

Some of the problems you will own include...

  • Making every bite-sized exercise effective and delightful

  • Teaching grammar more effectively

  • Improving our Chinese, Japanese, and Korean courses

  • Using AI to customize the learning path

You will...

  • Create the vision and strategy for how we instruct better through short-form content

  • Be accountable for learning outcomes as co-lead of the ~75-person cross-functional Short-form Learning Area

  • Manage and develop a team of senior product managers

  • Level up your team's product craft and velocity, so we're producing higher-quality work, faster

  • Lead through example by using AI to improve your craft, and encouraging your team to do the same

  • Propose and own key initiatives that improve the entire product org (e.g., AI adoption, interviewing, performance management)

You have...

  • A desire to make the world a better place through technology and education

  • Experience leading other product managers

  • Experience generating outstanding results as a product manager in a consumer application, product, or software role

  • Ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions

  • An instinct for creating simple, delightful, and intuitive user experiences
