Overview of the Global Brand Protection team
The Global Brand Protection team is responsible for Diageo’s fight against counterfeiting of its spirits brands, deploying a coordinated strategy across markets to mitigate the risk of counterfeiting to the Diageo business. The Global Brand Protection team sets and ensures the application of policies, providing guidance and tools to enable more effective local actions, and develops anti-counterfeiting projects with global application. In regions of key importance for Diageo where the counterfeit risk is high, the Global Brand Protection team leads the brand protection agenda.
Scope of role
Southeast Asia is important for the Diageo brand protection agenda, due to the importance of the region to the Diageo business and the scale of the counterfeit issues faced in the region. With a vast consumer base, complex business environment and fast booming e-commerce, the SEA markets are heavily impacted by the proliferation of counterfeits in the physical and digital world, both domestic and cross-border. A number of markets in Southeast Asia present a significant risk for counterfeit spirits, in particular Malaysia and Indonesia. To adequately address these risks, this role is part of the Global Brand Protection team and reports to the Senior Global Brand Protection Manager APAC.
Role accountabilities

Build the brand protection strategy for SEA markets and support the delivery of the brand protection agenda to address the existing and emerging counterfeiting risks.

Manage the relationship with external law firms and investigators.

Manage the counterfeit enforcement cases including providing rapid authentication support for suspected counterfeits and necessary support for prosecution cases.

Strengthen the relationship with administrative authorities, Police and Customs through trainings, meetings, regular email exchanges, etc.

Manage the customs recordals, including ensuring renewals are filed and acting as key point of contact for detention notifications across the relevant markets.

Maintain regular communication with e-commerce and social media platforms (such as Lazada, Shopee, etc.) to address online infringing issues and explore O2O enforcement.

Maintain global database for case management.

Improve the brand protection awareness among internal employees through trainings and daily engagement.

Leverage the industry associations/resources to drive forward consumer awareness program and law enforcement engagement.

Support the Global Brand Protection team on global projects as required.

Travel within the region as required.
Qualifications and Experience

At least 4 years’ experience in Brand Protection, ideally with a legal qualification and with in-depth brand protection experience in the SEA region.

Experience gained in a similar sized MNC, preferably an FMCG or equally fast paced industry.

Good communication and negotiation skills, ability to handle multi-tasks and work effectively under pressure.

Good interpersonal skills, spirit of team player, self-motivation.

Fluency in English essential.
