What you’ll achieve

As a Software Senior Principal Engineer on the TDC Solution team, you will provide organization‑level technical leadership for Dell’s AI and Solutions hyperconverged infrastructure platform.

You will shape the long‑term technical vision and system architecture across multiple teams, ensuring that complex, distributed software systems are designed, built, and evolved with a strong emphasis on scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability. You will leverage AI‑assisted engineering and analysis tools to enhance design quality, accelerate insight, and improve engineering effectiveness—while holding a consistently high bar for technical correctness and accountability.

You will:

  • Technical Vision & Architecture Leadership Define, evolve, and communicate long‑term technical vision and architecture across large‑scope or multi‑team systems.
  • Ensure architectural decisions balance innovation with operational stability and long‑term sustainability.
  • AI‑Assisted Engineering Strategy Champion the effective and responsible use of AI‑assisted tooling to support system design, implementation insight, analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Establish technical guardrails and quality standards to ensure AI‑enabled workflows produce correct, secure, and maintainable outcomes.
  • Maintain accountability for system‑level results regardless of how tooling or automation is applied.
  • System Quality, Reliability & Risk Management Anticipate and address systemic risks across distributed software platforms.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of the most complex system‑level or production issues.
  • Drive architectural and engineering improvements that significantly improve platform stability and resilience.
  • Cross‑Organization Technical Influence Partner with senior engineers, architects, DevOps, and product leadership to align technical execution with long‑term business goals.
  • Influence technical decisions across organizations without direct authority.
  • Act as a technical mentor and role model for senior and principal engineers.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience (10+ years).
  • Deep hands‑on experience with Python and/or Golang on Unix/BSD operating systems.
  • Expert‑level understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and large‑scale system design.
  • Proven track record of defining and evolving architecture for complex, mission‑critical software platforms.
  • Experience leveraging AI‑assisted or automated tooling to improve engineering insight, design quality, or system analysis.
  • Exceptional engineering judgment with the ability to evaluate correctness, risk, and long‑term maintainability at system scale.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across teams and organizations.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware) and containerized platforms (Kubernetes, Rancher) is a strong plus.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with cloud-native applications and microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices
  • Experience with containerized orchestration systems (Kubernetes, Rancher, etc) is a plus
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as VMware VCP or AWS Certified Developer, are a plus
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Github CI/CD) is a plus
