The Senior Process Automation Engineer is tasked with leading engineering activities focused on sustaining existing products, introducing new products, and enhancing processes to address both current and future operational requirements within the Optics division.

A key strategic objective is to improve productivity by minimizing dependence on labor-intensive manufacturing methods. The Optics Engineering Team plays a vital role in developing and implementing productivity initiatives aimed at automating optics manufacturing processes.

This position reports to the Senior Advanced Engineering Manager and is part of the Optics Engineering team located in Singapore and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Drive Digitalisation & Automation Initiatives to transform labor‑intensive processes into predictive, technology‑enabled workflows; lead transfer, commissioning, and qualification of new articles/products for mass production.
  • Drive Existing Product Sustainment by leading improvement workshops to enhance productivity, output, and quality, ensuring completeness of process documentation such as sequence plans, inspection plans, and preventive maintenance.
  • Lead Customer Quality Improvement Initiatives by identifying root causes and recommending corrective and preventive engineering actions. (QA metrics removed, but engineering-related quality actions retained)
  • Lead and Support Engineering Change & MRB Activities, including evaluation of existing processes to identify opportunities for yield, efficiency, and productivity enhancement through automation and robotics.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by reviewing new product designs for manufacturability, developing process parameters, jigs, fixtures, process controls, and ensuring complete documentation for production readiness.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, Precision Optics, or similar disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in precision engineering or manufacturing environments, with proven involvement in process engineering, productivity, or automation improvement projects.
  • Hands-on experience in kaizen, process reengineering, and innovation projects, applying structured methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong English communication skills with a positive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to multitask effectively; minimal travel required.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software, with exposure to cobotic handling and programming (C++, C#, PLC) as added advantages.
