The Business Account Manager is responsible for the identification, qualification, development, closing, and maintenance of new and existing business relationships with customers. The BAM interacts with internal functions, e.g. the Customer Success Team, legal, marketing and product development, as required to support presales and sales activities. Furthermore, a BAM also supports online (e.g. LinkedIn) or physical marketing activities (e.g. conferences, Genedata biopharma partner symposiums or similar).
This position reports to the Principal Business Account Manager and is part of the Profiler Business Unit located in Basel (Switzerland) and will be an on-site role.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Drive Business Growth: Lead the full sales cycle—from prospecting and negotiation to closing deals and securing signed agreements.
- Expand Market Presence: Identify and develop new business opportunities in target markets while deepening engagement with existing clients.
- Manage Customer Relationships: Build strong relationships and ensure retention through ongoing account management and understanding of their data workflows, business needs, and strategic goals.
- Strategic Planning: Design and execute strategic and tactical plans for account and territory development.
- Develop Proposals: Create and deliver compelling project proposals and presentations tailored to client objectives.
- Collaborate across functions: Partner with the Customer Success team to position and sell enterprise software solutions and consulting services.
- Coordinate Contracts: Collaborate with the legal team to ensure all agreements align with Genedata's standards and expectations.
Essential Requirements
- Over 5 years of proven success in enterprise B2B software sales, ideally within SaaS, data platforms, or consulting services in the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector.
- Verifiable track record of exceeding sales targets and navigating long, complex sales cycles in large, matrix-organizations, including top-tier biopharma clients.
- Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in bioinformatics, molecular biology, health sciences, or a closely related discipline, with deep understanding of translational and clinical research, and precision medicine.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with a proven ability to present to diverse audiences across organizational levels.
- Ability to travel up to 25% internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Salesforce or similar CRM systems, with strong focus on pipeline hygiene and forecasting capabilities.
- Cross-functional collaboration to engage effectively with scientists, managers, and IT professionals both internally and externally.
- Consultative and value-based selling skills, with a data-driven, structured approach and an ownership mindset.
