We are looking for a Electrical Resident Engineer who is responsible for overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems within a data center. This role ensures that all electrical works comply with project specifications, industry standards, and local regulations. The Resident Engineer serves as the on-site technical authority, coordinating with contractors, consultants, and project teams to ensure the successful delivery of electrical systems that support the data center's operations. The Electrical Resident Engineer (RE) must:
- Ensuring the electrical systems in a data center are installed and constructed in accordance to the specified standards and regulations.
- This role involves a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail, given the critical nature of data centers in modern business operations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify that construction activities align with electrical plans, specification and industry standards.
- Identify and report any deviations or non-conformances in Electrical works, and work with contractors to implement corrective measures.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company standards and policies.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance with Electrical standards. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit regular inspection reports, including SOR reports, audit findings, and compliance metrics, to senior management and client bodies.
- Electrical Specification: The Electrical resident Engineer must be well versed with the local and federal Electrical guideline and specification. IOW should be able to advise the contractor and correct the contractor on Electrical guideline and specification.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Oversight
- Supervise the installation and commissioning of electrical systems, including power distribution, backup generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), switchgear, and other critical infrastructure.
- Ensure that electrical installations are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and timelines.
- Monitor the progress of electrical works, ensuring adherence to project schedules and resolving any delays or issues that arise.
Technical Expertise
- Provide on-site technical support and guidance to contractors and construction teams during the installation and testing phases.
- Review and approve electrical design drawings, shop drawings, and material submittals to ensure they meet project requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of electrical systems to verify compliance with safety standards and local regulations.
Coordination and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure integrated project execution.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all electrical-related matters on-site, facilitating effective communication between the client, contractors, and consultants.
- Participate in project meetings, providing updates on electrical works and addressing any technical challenges.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure that all electrical installations comply with Malaysian electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Identify and address any non-compliance issues, ensuring that corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Oversee testing and commissioning activities, ensuring that all systems are fully operational and meet performance requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all electrical works, including daily reports, inspection records, and test results.
- Prepare detailed reports on project progress, highlighting any issues or concerns related to electrical systems.
- Assist in the preparation of as-built documentation and ensure a smooth handover of electrical systems to the operations team.
Testing and Commissioning:
- Oversee the testing and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure they meet performance and reliability standards.
- Verify the correct operation of electrical systems, including backup power systems, before the handover to the client.
- Participate in the final acceptance testing and ensure that all punch list items are completed.

2.1 - Project Team Specific:
- Work with project team and support project team to be cohesive and facilitate a team culture.
- Full-time position, based on the construction site.
- May require working extended hours, including weekends and public holidays, depending on the project schedule.
- The role involves exposure to construction site environments, including noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
- Be aware of the Cushman & Wakefield values and policies and provide example by conducting yourself in accordance with these tenets.
- Keep team member involved and informed; provide feedback, coaching & mentoring for team(s) with regards to scheduling.
- Resolve difficult personnel situations directly, using appropriate discretion, Project Director and HR advice and respect for the individual.
2.2 - Business Specific:
- Support Cushman & Wakefield submissions as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Assist with business improvement and innovation initiatives.
- Work with Alternate Assets Lead to support other regions.
2.3 - Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Report on projects status involving quality, cost and time impact.
- Ensure both internal and external Customer satisfaction is managed.
- Adhere to all Cushman & Wakefield company policies and procedures.
- Ensures accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of Electrical Works as per specification and tolerances.
- Approval of Electrical shop drawings and material approval request.
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills in promoting a safety culture and ensuring compliance with Electrical standards.
- Effectively communicates Electrical specification, drawings, and expectations to all project personnel.
- Takes initiative to identify potential Electrical issues and proactively addresses them.
- Works effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
Requirements:

Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

3 years of experience in data centre or critical infrastructure environments

Basic knowledge of cooling systems and mechanical equipment

Good problem-solving and communication skills

Highly skilled in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
