Center, Beijing. The organization is responsible for internal and external, commercial engine related technical and business trainings.

The person in this role will develop and lead the strategy for the Center of Excellence ensuring training programs and delivery align with internal and external business needs and expectations. They will be the interface with the joint venture partner responsible for Board of Director updates and presentations. This position will report directly to the Director, Global Customer Training.

Overview:

  • Huapu, the PW China Customer Training Center, is a joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and CAS, started operations in 2002
  • The center provides world class training facilities for P&W customers in the world.
  • The center is engaged in delivering world class trainings to its customers focused in the region
  • The organization is a leader in leveraging latest digital technologies like VR and 3D simulations to enhance the customer experience.

Key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Work with the General Manager of the India Training Center and the General Manager of the East Hartford Training Center to develop a strategy and vision for Customer Training Centers to support customer and employee training that aligns with the overall customer business objectives
  • Manage the 4 key value streams within the Training team:Business Development & Growth to ensure steady pipeline of training business from customers across the region, think strategically to ensure adequate capacity in alignment with business forecast and anticipated operating challenges
  • Instructional Delivery of CE, General Business, Engineering and Performance related courses, provide EH ISD team input regarding all training materials, training delivery media and channels to develop new courses and prioritize updates
  • Customer Services for scheduling, registration, materials and media management and performance metrics for all training and conference related services
  • General Management of facilities, staffing, procurement, finance, legal, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), Quality, international trade/ ethics compliance, utilize student feedback (MFA) and employee feedback (Pulse) and support financial audits to gauge performance
  • Ensure adherence to PW/RTX corporate policies and procedures while making financial and operational decisions for efficient running of the site
  • Provide direction to the staff to ensure smooth and seamless delivery across the value streams to align with sister Training Centers and function as One Team.
  • Build strong working relationships with functional leaders and other internal stakeholders and demonstrate maturity and tact in dealing with organizational matters as they present themselves.
  • As a representative to the Board of Directors - provide leadership on organizational matters as needed
  • Collaborate with aviation regulators CAAC, central & state government departments, US government agencies and industry groups in support of P&W priorities
  • Lead and direct efforts to broaden Customer Training’s impact in the aerospace training community Be the PW Brand Ambassador through high quality instructional delivery, support of customer field issues and maintenance of showcase facility and equipment; partner with PW Public Relations initiatives, conferences, and events
  • Engage with aeronautical universities, technical colleges, in the region to drive P&W initiatives for brand awareness and recruiting efforts

Skill sets for the role

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and present plans at senior management levels and build broad based consensus to ensure execution
  • Build cross functional internal and external relationships within the PW Commercial Engines community
  • Strong understanding of the aviation industry, aircraft engines market and aviation regulations
  • Experience with day to day site management like budgeting and forecasting, customs Import/export and other site compliances, maintenance of complex electrical installation, general repairs and upkeep of the facility to ensure world class experience for our customers
  • Provide a clear vision to others of the organizational needs to ensure support across all organizational levels
  • Motivate and encourage teams to excel, take ownership and responsibility for the future direction of the organization
  • Provide leadership, set and communicate expectations and goals; develop employees
  • A thorough understanding of CORE operating framework and the discipline to manage the organization within the continuous improvement/lean framework
  • Ability to interface with all levels of an organization

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering and 12 years’ experience in aviation industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have local China work authorization or the ability to obtain authorization
  • Master’s Business Administration
  • Experience with leading a training organization or as a general manager of a site
  • Strategic leadership, government relations, customer support, Quality

Travel:

  • 10% domestic and international
