Job Description Summary: Role Purpose

The Director, Media & Connections – Romania leads the full media, digital, social, content, sponsorship, and integrated connections strategy for the Romanian market. This role ensures Coca Cola brands achieve best in class reach, quality, efficiency, and effectiveness across all paid, owned, and earned channels.

This leader translates global and Europe OU media and connections frameworks into locally relevant, insight driven plans, ensuring strong integration with brand strategies, commercial priorities, and the Romanian consumer landscape. The role partners closely with the Senior Director I Marketing, Directors across Brand, Creative, IMX, Insights, PACS, Digital/Commerce, Commercial, and bottler media/activation teams.

The General Manager retains final P&L accountability; the Director Media & Connections manages media related DME within guardrails set by Senior Director Marketing and the GM.

What You’ll Do for Us1.

Media & Connections Strategy:

  • Lead the end to end media, digital, and connections strategy for Romania across all Coca Cola brands.

  • Translate global and Operating Unit frameworks into consumer driven, high quality, and locally relevant media choices.

  • Define the annual media vision, priorities, and channel strategy to maximize reach, resonance, and ROI.

  • Ensure the Romania media strategy reflects cultural, competitive, and category dynamics.

Integrated Full Funnel Planning:

  • Build full funnel media and connections plans aligned with brand strategy, IMX architecture, and campaign objectives.

  • Ensure cohesive integration across paid, owned, and earned channels—media, digital, social, influencer, experiential, PR, sponsorships.

  • Partner with Brand Directors and Creative/IMX teams to ensure clarity of role for each channel and asset.

  • Drive strong alignment of media with commercial priorities and customer activation.

3. Digital, Social & Precision Marketing Leadership

  • Lead Romania’s digital acceleration agenda, including precision marketing, addressable media, and data enabled targeting.

  • Ensure strong integration of digital content strategies with platform best practices.

  • Oversee influencer strategy, community engagement, and social ecosystem management.

  • Partner with Digital/Commerce to connect media with ecommerce and retail media opportunities.

4. Measurement, Effectiveness & Optimization

  • Lead the measurement framework for Romania across MMM, MTA, brand lift, media quality, and effectiveness standards.

  • Drive a culture of testing, learning, and continuous optimization across media and connections.

  • Set KPIs for each campaign and channel, and ensure post campaign performance reviews drive future improvements.

  • Provide actionable insights to Brand Directors, Creative, and Commercial partners.

System Leadership & Bottler Collaboration:

  • Act as the primary media & connections counterpart to bottler teams in Romania.

  • Align on annual media plan, sponsorship investments, local partnerships, and inmarket activation standards.

  • Ensure system harmony on media investments, measurement standards, and digital acceleration priorities.

  • Support joint planning routines and governance forums to reinforce a unified approach.

Cross Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Creative, Brand, IMX, Insights, PACS, Digital/Commerce, and Commercial teams to ensure integrated delivery.

  • Work closely with PACS on earned media, PR, crisis response, reputation protection, and social listening.

  • Ensure Connections plans reinforce brand strategy, customer strategy, and commercial execution.

  • Support the Senior Director I Marketing in connecting media investments to broader marketing and business outcomes.

DME Management & Governance:

  • Manage media related DME within guardrails set by Senior Director Marketing; final DME/P&L accountability remains with the GM.

  • Drive efficient and effective media investment decisions grounded in performance, ROI, and long term brand building.

  • Oversee forecasting, budget tracking, investment shifts, and governance compliance.

  • Ensure adherence to legal, claims, responsible marketing, sustainability, and brand safety requirements.

People Leadership & Capability Building:

  • Lead, develop, and coach Senior Managers and Managers across media, digital, social, and connections.

  • Build inhouse capabilities in data driven marketing, digital excellence, influencer strategy, media quality, and measurement.

  • Foster a high performance, collaborative, inclusive culture.

  • Ensure strong agency leadership and continuous capability upgrading across partners.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required;

  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in media, digital, or integrated connections (agency or client side).

  • Proven experience delivering media strategy and full funnel plans in FMCG/CPG.

  • Strong knowledge of digital, social, precision, programmatic, and measurement.

  • Experience working in bottler/franchise systems preferred.

  • Strong influencing skills and ability to work in matrixed, fastpaced environments.

  • Fluent in English; Romanian preferred.
