Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

· Serve as a technical authority for the Service Now platform across multiple domains (ITSM, ITOM, CSM, HRSD, Sec Ops, GRC, SPM).

· Define platform architecture, design patterns, and development standards aligned with Service Now best practices.

· Lead complex solution designs, including integrations, data models, custom applications, and scoped apps.

· Review and approve high impact technical designs, scripts, and integrations.

Platform Engineering & Development

· Design and develop high quality, reusable, and scalable Service Now solutions, including:

· Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Actions

· Flow Designer & Integration Hub

· Service Portal / Employee Center / UI Builder

· CMDB & Discovery customizations

· Custom applications and APIs

· Ensure upgrade safe development with minimal technical debt.

· Drive automation-first and low code/no code adoption where appropriate.

Governance, Quality & Performance

· Establish and enforce coding standards, review practices, and CI/CD pipelines.

· Own platform performance, security, and compliance posture.

· Proactively identify and remediate:

o Performance bottlenecks

o Anti patterns

o Over customization risks

o Partner with Info Sec and Risk teams on access controls, data privacy, and audit readiness.

Mentorship & Engineering Excellence

· Mentor Senior Engineers and Lead Developers, elevating overall team capability.

· Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and technical deep dives.

· Promote a culture of engineering excellence, documentation, and continuous learning.

· Act as a technical escalation point for critical incidents or complex defects.

Stakeholder Collaboration

· Collaborate with:

· Enterprise Architects

· Product Owners & Platform Owners

· Business Process Owners

· Service Now Practice & COE teams

· Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

· Provide technical guidance during roadmap planning and platform evolution.

Required Qualifications

· Education

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience

· 10+ years of overall software engineering experience.

· 7+ years of hands on Service Now development experience.

· Proven experience working in large, multi instance, enterprise Service Now environments.

Technical Skills (Must Have)

Deep expertise in:

· Service Now scripting (JavaScript, Glide API)

· Flow Designer & Integration Hub

· CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, and Service Mapping

· Strong experience with:

· REST/SOAP integrations

· Authentication (OAuth, SAML, MID Server)

· Performance tuning and debugging

· Experience with Service Now upgrade strategy and impact analysis.

Certifications (Highly Preferred)

· Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA)

· Service Now Certified Application Developer (CAD)

· Service Now Implementation Specialist (any domain)

· Service Now Certified Technical Architect (CTA) – highly desirable
