
Maintenance Engineer at Cardinal Health
About the role
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure uptime and reliability of production equipment through preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Develop, implement, and optimize PM plans based on equipment criticality and performance data.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation-related issues.
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment (IQ/OQ/PQ) in coordination with Engineering and Quality.
- Analyze downtime data and lead root cause analysis (RCA) using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and DMAIC; implement corrective actions (CAPA).
- Manage and coordinate external vendors and contractors for maintenance activities and projects.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, EHS, and regulatory requirements at all times.
- Maintain and update documentation: SOPs, work instructions and Maintenance logs
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, efficiency, and equipment performance (OEE).
- Support spare parts strategy, inventory control, and critical parts identification.
- Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and support training as needed.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure operational continuity.

Qualifications
- 4–8 years of experience in maintenance engineering within manufacturing environments, preferably medical devices or regulated industries.
- Advanced English (written and verbal).

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance systems (CMMS), equipment reliability, and performance metrics (OEE, MTBF, MTTR).
- Knowledge of GMP, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in highly regulated industries (medical devices, pharma).
- Knowledge of PLCs and automation systems.
- Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification (preferable).
- Project management experience (preferable).
- Experience supporting equipment validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)
