Robert Bosch GmbH, commonly known as Bosch, is a German multinational engineering and technology company headquartered in Gerlingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
Academic Internship in Electronics Engineering (f/m/div.) at Bosch
About the role
Your contribution to something big: - Develop an universal switch box that will improve remote-operated test bench capabilities. This component will enable dynamic signal routing, allowing users to remotely reconfigure measurement points and test connections, significantly improving testing efficiency and remote accessibility. This switch box will cover current limitations of remote-operated test benches by enabling users to, for example, remotely:
- Change measurement points connected to probe channels
- Switch between different signal traces
Key Responsibilities
1. Hardware Development:
- Design and develop a universal switch box with one-to-many input/output mapping capability
- Implement reliable switching mechanisms suitable for various signal types and protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, analog signals, etc.)
- Ensure signal integrity and minimal cross-talk in the switching matrix
- Select appropriate components (relays, multiplexers, solid-state switches) based on performance requirements
- Design PCB layouts and schematics for the switch box system
- Integrate the switch box into existing hardware test bench infrastructure
2. Software/Firmware Development:
- Develop embedded firmware for switch control and management
- Implement remote operation capabilities via network protocols
- Create a user-friendly GUI for remote switch configuration and control
- Develop API/interface for integration with existing test automation frameworks
- Implement logging and diagnostic features for troubleshooting
3.
Testing & Validation:
- Conduct thorough testing to validate switching reliability and signal integrity
- Perform characterization tests (bandwidth, impedance, insertion loss, etc.)
- Document test procedures and results
- Ensure compatibility with existing test equipment and probes
4. Documentation:
- Create comprehensive technical documentation including schematics, user manuals, and integration guides
- Document API specifications and communication protocols
- Provide training materials for end-users
