Role Overview

We seek a highly networked and entrepreneurial Senior Director to lead West Coast ecosystem development for BNY’s Strategic Partnerships, Investments & Innovation Center (SPIN) Hub. You will expand BNY’s presence across venture capital, growth equity, private equity, and accelerator networks—building trusted relationships with GPs, LPs, founders, platform teams, and scaling portfolio companies. Your work will translate ecosystem connectivity into commercial growth, strategic partnerships, and market intelligence that benefits both BNY and the innovation economy. This position is located in San Francisco.

Key Responsibilities Ecosystem Development:

  • Design and execute BNY’s West Coast ecosystem strategy across VC, growth equity, PE, accelerators, and corporate innovation groups.

  • Build deep relationships with GPs, emerging managers, platform teams, and investor communities to identify aligned opportunities for BNY’s businesses.

  • Establish engagement channels with scaling portfolio companies to introduce BNY offerings and convert into long-term client relationships.

  • Represent BNY at industry events, conferences, and curated gatherings; host executive roundtables and founder/GP forums.

Commercial Growth & Deal Flow:

  • Source, qualify, and advance commercial opportunities across portfolio companies and innovation-forward enterprises; drive net-new prospects into BNY pipelines.

  • Pair ecosystem insights with the right BNY business lines; orchestrate multi-stakeholder pursuits to accelerate revenue outcomes.

  • Collaborate with product, sales, digital asset teams, and sector specialists to align ecosystem needs with strategic offerings and roadmaps.

Strategic Partnerships & Co-Development:

  • Develop relationship frameworks that deepen collaboration between BNY and ecosystem partners (funds, accelerators, influencers).

  • Identify opportunities for joint programming, thought leadership, pilots, or partnership-led commercialization; manage from concept to structured outcomes.

  • Partner with SPIN Investments and Strategic Alliances to assess, prioritize, and activate ecosystem-driven opportunities.

Cross-Functional Orchestration & Market Intelligence:

  • Act as a central connector across BNY—synthesizing ecosystem insights, stakeholder needs, and coordinating engagement across business units.

  • Provide ongoing market intelligence on innovation trends, emerging technologies, competitive dynamics, and categories with strong client demand (e.g., fintech, enterprise software/SaaS, infrastructure, data/AI, digital assets).

  • Ensure work aligns with enterprise compliance, risk, and confidentiality guardrails.

Performance & Reporting:

  • Define KPIs and reporting mechanisms to track ecosystem health, relationship depth, opportunity progression, and commercial impact.

  • Translate qualitative signals into quantifiable insights to inform senior management and SPIN Hub priorities.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in business development, strategic partnerships, VC ecosystem development, venture platform engagement, corporate development, or innovation roles.

  • Established network across West Coast VC, growth equity, PE, accelerators, and founder communities; proven ability to engage C-suite and platform teams.

  • Demonstrated success originating ecosystem-led commercial opportunities and converting to revenue or strategic outcomes within a complex enterprise.

  • Exceptional communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management across internal and external audiences.

  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of guiding ambiguous partnership conversations toward structured agreements.

  • High adaptability, curiosity, and resilience in fast-evolving innovation landscapes; thrives in connector-oriented, relationship-centric roles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain familiarity in fintech, enterprise software/SaaS, infrastructure, data/AI, or digital assets.

  • Experience designing co-development pilots or partnership-led commercialization programs.

  • Prior work in or closely with venture firms (platform or investing), accelerator networks, or corporate innovation teams.
