Business Overview

The Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group provides independent oversight of Black Rock’s fiduciary and enterprise risks. RQA’s mission is to provide unbiased oversight of portfolio and enterprise risks and to deliver impactful risk expertise seeking to drive better business outcomes. Risk managers play a meaningful role in Black Rock’s investment process, using quantitative analysis and a multi-disciplinary skillset to tackle real-world problems and provide tangible solutions in the investment management process.

RQA is committed to investing in our people to increase individual enablement and ultimately build a stronger team. Our goal is to create a culture of inclusion which encourages collaboration, innovation, diversity and the development of our future leaders. We actively engage in discussions on career growth and work with team members to understand how personal passions and strength connect with our purpose.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to serve as the primary representative of Black Rock’s Risk & Quantitative Analysis function in Taiwan. This role serves as the independent risk partner to business leads in Black Rock Taiwan, acting as Black Rock’s second line of defence and ensuring a robust and regulatory‑aligned risk management framework. The successful candidate will also contribute meaningfully to the risk management processes across the broader Asia Pacific region.

Success in this role requires more than technical expertise. We are looking for someone with a proactive and self‑driven mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, balancing trust‑building with constructive challenge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the implementation and enhancement of Taiwan’s risk management framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and Black Rock’s global standards.
  • Oversee enterprise risk management for Black Rock Taiwan, covering operational, technology, and third‑party risk, while contributing to regional and global enterprise risk programs.
  • Partner with regional fiduciary risk teams to deliver rigorous investment risk management for Taiwan investment strategies and maintain robust oversight of counterparty and trading activities.
  • Provide clear, analytically grounded risk insights and offer timely, constructive challenge across investment and enterprise‑risk topics to senior Taiwan stakeholders
  • Collaborate with regional and global RQA teams effectively, ensuring high‑quality delivery of Taiwan’s risk program while serving as a strong regional contributor to APAC‑wide risk initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in risk or investment management.
  • Solid understanding of financial markets, with familiarity in ETFs, equities, fixed income, and multi‑asset portfolios.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Chinese are essential; strong English communication skills are preferred.
  • Qualified applicants, including people with disabilities, are welcome to apply.
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered at the Associate level.

Additional Requirements:

We are seeking a candidate who also demonstrates the following qualities, which are critical for managing risk in a dynamic market and rapidly growing business:

  • Proactive and self‑driven: Curious, observant, and able to identify and act on opportunities to strengthen risk oversight and add value.
  • Collaborative with sound judgment: Builds trust while offering timely, constructive challenge to support disciplined risk‑taking and high‑quality decision‑making.
  • Clear communicator: Capable of distilling complex concepts into simple, actionable insights tailored to different audiences, including senior management.
  • High degree of ownership, accountability, and adaptability: Takes initiative, follows through reliably, thrives in a collaborative environment, and remains steady through changing conditions.
  • Innovative mindset: Proactively adopts and integrates new technologies—such as AI‑enabled tools—to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Our benefits

To help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of benefits including a strong retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive healthcare, support for working parents and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about.

Our hybrid work model

Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities. We remain focused on increasing the impactful moments that arise when we work together in person – aligned with our commitment to performance and innovation. As a new joiner, you can count on this hybrid model to accelerate your learning and onboarding experience here at Black Rock.
