This role owns project performance across cost, schedule, scope, trade coordination, procurement, and client communication, ensuring the successful delivery of multi‑million‑dollar critical environment initiatives for tier‑one clients.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Lead pre‑design efforts, including due diligence, constructability reviews, and value engineering to optimize cost and schedule.
- Manage prime contractors and trades (electrical, mechanical, controls, fire protection, structural, and general trades) through complex, phased delivery.
- Oversee technical and strategic procurement, drafting and administering RFPs for construction, equipment, and professional services; manage vendor qualification, selection, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Develop and maintain project charters, logistics plans, and integrated schedules; monitor critical path, milestones, and recovery plans.
- Own full‑cycle financial management, including ROM development, baseline budgets, change orders, forecasts, pay applications, and variance analysis.
- Ensure quality assurance and commissioning of critical power, cooling, life‑safety, and control systems within active environments.
- Enforce site safety protocols, including lockout‑tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices in energized facilities.
- Serve as the primary client and stakeholder interface, translating technical requirements into actionable plans, leading executive‑level meetings, and delivering data‑driven progress reports.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams to align design, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Manage contract administration, compliance, and governance of scopes, insurance documentation, and approvals.
- Implement risk identification and mitigation strategies, tracking performance metrics and maintaining project delivery under aggressive timelines.
Desired experience and technical skills:
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 4-6 years of construction project management experience in data center, industrial, or other mission‑critical environments
- Direct oversight of trade contractors (electrical, mechanical, generator, controls, structural) in active construction settings
- Advanced proficiency with project management, scheduling software, and financial management tools
- Expertise in technical RFP development, procurement, and contract administration
- Working knowledge of MEP systems, critical power/cooling infrastructure, and commissioning standards (NFPA, ASHRAE)
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills, including executive‑level status presentation
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, priorities, and fast‑track deadlines
- Availability to travel up to 25% to project sites
Preferred:
- Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, CDCP®, or DCDC®
- Experience with design‑build or accelerated schedule delivery models
- Familiarity with UPS systems, generators, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, BMS networks, and alternative cooling technologies
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, testing, and commissioning protocols for 24/7 operations
- Experience managing multiple concurrent or geographically distributed sites
- Demonstrated risk‑management capabilities for complex technical and schedule challenges
- Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement in mission‑critical construction
