Director, Access and Reimbursement- Rare Disease
About This Role: As the Director of the Rare Disease Reimbursement Management (RDRM) team, you will play a crucial role in leading and supporting the efforts of our team to navigate and manage the reimbursement landscape for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), SOD-1 ALS, and Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA). Your leadership will be pivotal in ensuring proactive management of reimbursement environments, working closely with Account Management, Sales, and Family Access teams to implement effective reimbursement and clinical education strategies across the U.S. This role involves the selection, onboarding, coaching for performance and development, and managing employee processes. You will also lead the delivery of clinical education and in-service support to treatment sites, becoming an expert on SMA, ALS, and FA reimbursement policies, and translating local and national payer policies into actionable strategies. Collaborating with MA&R teams, you’ll identify trends, provide insights, and develop resources to educate hospital billing, finance, reimbursement, and revenue cycle teams on the evolving landscape of rare disease reimbursement. Your strategic direction will be essential for managing daily activities of field managers, guiding reimbursement support to accounts, and resolving site-of-care reimbursement challenges in line with the US Rare Disease business strategy.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead a team of 7 Rare Disease Reimbursement Managers.
- Provide ongoing development, coaching, and planning for the team.
- Ensure smooth reimbursement operations to support patient success.
- Develop strategic plans that align with local needs and national goals.
- Partner with Rare Disease leadership to execute U.S. business strategy effectively.
- Monitor reimbursement policy changes impacting product adoption.
- Create and evaluate access models that optimize patient and customer support.
- Guide the development of favorable coverage and payment policies.
- Support the expansion of treatment sites as needed.

Required Skills:
- Significant pharmaceutical sales, managed care, and reimbursement experience.
- Deep understanding of prior authorization process, including complex appeals and reimbursement processes such as coding, billing, and claims payment resolution.
- Required experience working with complex buy and bill products.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience.
- Minimum 10 years of healthcare industry experience.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed environment.
Travel up to 60%

Additional Information:
The base compensation range for this role is: $199,000.00-$274,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
