Mining and metals

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare cost studies, review cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.

Major Responsibilities:

• Being responsible for cost estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill

• Analyzing to provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges

• Developing and implementing project requirements for cost control in accordance with established Bechtel and client contractual requirements, objectives, and procedures

• Ensuring work is completed as scheduled, supporting project organizational and administrative activities

• Preparing cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons

• Reviewing identified cost trends for cost effectiveness and suggesting alternatives when appropriate

• Maintaining open communications with other organizations to support cost engineering analysis and control activities

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree in Civil Engineer (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• MS Excel advanced level.

• ECOSYS is desirable.

• Ease of teamwork.

• Autonomy in their functions and with initiative to participate with the work team. Experience in the field is desirable (almost a must).

• Demonstrated experience in executing, monitoring, and evaluating cost engineering activities, including cost estimation, cost control, and cost analysis.

• Experience performing cost trend estimates in support of project cost trend programs.

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

• Thorough knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes, as well as a solid understanding of relevant Controller instructions that affect Project Controls Competent in engineering, procurement, contracting, construction, and startup processes, in accordance with Bechtel's operational standards.

• Experience in mining and/or engineering in similar companies is desirable.
