Stamping Process Engineer

Why join Aptiv? You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge applications, develop breakthrough technologies, and deliver innovative solutions to some of the world’s leading automotive brands. See your work come to life on the road—helping make mobility safer, greener, and more connected. Ready to shape the future of mobility with us?

YOUR ROLE

The Process Technology Engineer is responsible for the design, standardization, qualification, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes in the plant. The role ensures robust, efficient, and stable serial production, high product quality, cost efficiency, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the process owner for assigned manufacturing processes, ensuring they are standardized, stable, and robust throughout their lifecycle. This includes performing process design, qualification, and release to series production, defining and validating key process parameters, and ensuring economical, high quality manufacturing conditions.

  • Prepares and maintain all required process documentation and approvals while supporting product and process design activities, as well as equipment specification and procurement during industrialization phases.

  • Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes, with a strong focus on quality, equipment availability, cycle time and changeover optimization, and scrap and material waste reduction.

  • Apply and further develop KVP and PDCA methodologies to identify root causes of performance losses and define effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Develop improvement proposals and prepare business cases that support decisions on process and equipment investments.

  • Monitor assigned processes, evaluating performance, efficiency, scrap rates, and downtime. Conduct detailed analyses to identify causes of productivity losses and deviations from expected performance. The position supports Quality in investigating quality issues and contributes to the implementation of corrective actions, ensuring that process stability and capability are maintained.

  • Provide hands on support to production teams during machine setups, process adjustments, and optimization activities. Play a key role in process and product trials—supporting sampling, validation, and documentation—while actively participating in the industrialization and introduction of new products, tools, and equipment into series production.

  • Ensure a stable ramp up phase and a smooth handover to production.

  • Collaborate closely with Maintenance to analyze the root causes of machine downtime and supports predictive and preventive maintenance strategies. Ensure responsible handling of tools, fixtures, equipment, and production assets, contributing to efficient and safe operations throughout the plant.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards, actively promoting safe working practices and taking immediate action when risks are observed. Maintain order and cleanliness (5S) within the assigned area to support operational discipline and safety. The role is authorized to stop machines or production lines when quality or safety standards are compromised.

Must Haves (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally within the automotive sector or other high volume industrial settings.
  • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing processes, process industrialization, and basic familiarity with industrial equipment and production technologies.
  • Practical exposure to continuous improvement methodologies and structured problem solving approaches.
  • Experience working independently on technical topics while also collaborating effectively within cross functional teams.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes, process stability, and industrial optimization levers.
  • Analytical, structured, and solution oriented mindset with the ability to interpret process data and identify performance trends.
  • Solid knowledge of continuous improvement tools (KVP / PDCA) and ability to apply them effectively in daily operations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective interaction with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and follow through on actions with ownership and accountability.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining documentation and process standards.
  • Fluent English proficiency, with strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with multicultural and cross-functional teams.
