Ring is seeking a mission-driven, operationally elite leader to serve as Head of Efficacy, responsbile for Ring's crime deterrence capability across Virtual Security Guard (VSG), AI-powered proactive security features, and other security testing programs. This leader will own the end-to-end strategy for proving, measuring, and continuously improving Ring's ability to deter and stop crime in real-world conditions.

The ideal candidate brings a law enforcement or military background — ideally special operations — combined with the ability to translate tactical expertise into scalable product testing frameworks, operational playbooks, and measurable deterrence outcomes.
You will define what "effective deterrence" means for Ring and drive continuous improvement across Ring serivces including VSG, AI proactive features (person detection, automated deterrence, smart alerts), and emerging security capabilities. You will partner cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, AI/ML, Operations, Legal, and external partners to ensure every feature Ring ships actually stops crime — not just detects it.
Key job responsibilities
Own the definition, measurement, and continuous improvement of Ring's crime deterrence capability across all products and services.
Define methodology, establish facilities or field testing partnerships, and create repeatable test protocols.
Define the deterrence effectiveness framework: what metrics matter (response time to intervention, deterrence success rate, escalation accuracy, dispatch outcomes), how they're measured, and what "good" looks like.
Lead a team that operates at the intersection of security operations, product testing, and data-driven optimization.
Set ambitious, measurable goals for deterrence outcomes and build mechanisms to inspect performance at daily, weekly, and monthly cadences.
Design real-world testing protocols that simulate actual scenarios across diverse environments (residential, commercial, urban, rural, day, night, weather conditions).
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
- 10+ years of blending product and program management skills to execute strategic initiatives about process creation, standardization, and improvement experience

- 10+ years of experience in military operations, special operations, law enforcement tactical units, intelligence operations, or equivalent high-stakes security environments.
- 5+ years in leadership roles (military O-4+ or equivalent) with demonstrated experience leading teams in time-critical, high-consequence operations.
- Strong analytical capability — comfortable with data, metrics, dashboards, and using quantitative analysis to drive decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership with clear, data-backed recommendations.
- Experience operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where you had to build structure and process from scratch.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience owning technology products
- U.S. Special Operations Forces background (Army Special Forces, Navy SEALs, MARSOC, Air Force Special Tactics, 75th Ranger Regiment, or equivalent).
- Experience in military or intelligence testing & evaluation (T&E) programs — designing test protocols, defining success criteria, and validating capability against real-world scenarios.
- Background in physical security system design, evaluation, or consulting.
- Experience in a technology, product, or operations role — demonstrating the ability to translate tactical/operational expertise into scalable programs within a tech company.
- Experience with AI/ML systems, computer vision, or sensor-based detection technologies.
- Familiarity with queuing theory, response time optimization, or real-time operations management.
- MBA or advanced degree in operations research, security studies, systems engineering, or related field.
- Experience working with third-party security monitoring or central station operations.
- Active or recently held U.S. security clearance.
- Experience with law enforcement coordination, emergency dispatch protocols, or public safety partnerships.
