Amazon Pets is looking for an entrepreneurial Senior Vendor Manager who will play a critical role managing vendors and categories for the fast-paced and growing Pets category. The Senior Vendor Manager is responsible for managing the full scope of their category and vendor portfolio, driving the topline performance and profitability for their business. They will analyze data to identify key brands to target, initiate long term relationships with brands’ senior management, resolve operational, logistical or business issues, and lead negotiations on Amazon’s behalf. They will leverage key metrics to develop customer insights to drive innovation, and will leverage these insights to drive vendor participation in marketing, merchandising and promotional activities in order to drive overall business growth.
Successful candidates will be highly adept at Earning Trust and demonstrate an ability to influence some of Amazon’s most important partners and vendors, as well as internal cross-functional teams. They are passionate about building relationships, finding creative solutions to challenging blockers presented in the industry, and launching new brands from scratch. They will have the opportunities to walk the show rooms at Pet Industry Trade Shows and Conferences, present to strategic vendors face to face, and drive conversations at the highest level (e.g., CEO, COO) to influence the result. They must be excellent problem solvers, great at identifying potential obstacles, implementing quick work-around solutions, and Inventing and Simplifying tasks to scale. The ideal candidate will be an autonomous self-starter, have strong Ownership, comfortable navigating ambiguity with a Bias for Action, and be able to Deliver Results in a fast paced business environment where prioritizing and multi-tasking are essential.

- Define the vision and business strategy for the category including North Star metric(s) and KPIs for measuring results
- Manages category P&L and develops plans that drive revenue and margin improvements for the business
- Develops vendor relationships inclusive of terms negotiations and growth focused initiatives
- Drive broad adoption and provide an unparalleled customer experience
- Devise clear frameworks for making day-to-day decisions
- Lead execution of projects including building project plans
- Drive commitments from internal teams including Marketing, Advertising, and Category Management
- Dives deep into inputs and understands the downstream impact of changes to pricing, selection, and convenience for subcategories.
A day in the life
As a Senior Vendor Manager, you will have accountability for the business results for vendor within the Pet Food category. During a typical day you would find yourself negotiating contracts and working on a Joint Business Plan with a vendor. Working with another vendor and stakeholder teams on expanding product selection and finalizing promotion plans for an upcoming event. Diving deep into metrics for your category to prepare for weekly business reviews, working with cross functional teams developing and implementing a new product feature. Among many other initiatives you would be developing and growing vendor relationships, driving sales and margin improvements, and creating best-in-class customer experience
CUSTOMER NEEDS:
Evaluates products and services to continually drive quality of customer experience· Aggregates and escalates industry trends; ensures team prioritizes customer obsession
Identifies opportunities to differentiate our customer experience from the competition
STRATEGY:
Develops long-term strategies and significantly influences cross-category buying processes and standards as well as cross-category vendor negotiations
Develops and implements action plans based on deep-dive analysis of product line metrics
Provides recommendation on business opportunities and long-term strategy for multiple sub-categories
VENDOR MANAGEMENT:
Expands current vendor selection and secures new brand selection for multiple subcategories
Focuses on strategic holdout or challenging vendors to increase category selection
Drives strategic negotiations to deliver top- and bottom-line category growth
Builds long-term relationships by creating value, opportunities for growth, customer acquisition, and brand-building for multiple vendors
Increases vendor participation through deep knowledge of program opportunities
BUSINESS OPERATIONS:
Dives deep into inputs and understands the downstream impact of changes to pricing, selection, and convenience for multiple subcategories.
Owns the Retail P&L for multiple subcategories; develops plans that drive revenue and margin improvement for the business
Creates strategic and prioritized vendor marketing plan that maximizes margin dollars and customer experience
Identifies areas that need vendor attention and directs team to address issues; acts as escalation point, helping team and vendor(s) resolve conflicts
AUTOMATION & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:
Identifies scalable changes to the category that automate the product life-cycle management process
Creates long-term category solutions that automate or simplify category processes
Works with internal technical, cross-category, and tech teams to drive multi-system process changes

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL
- Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration
- Experience using data to influence business decisions
- Experience with business analysis and P&L management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
