Amazon is looking for a talented Category Manager (CM) responsible for setting the strategic direction for their business on Amazon Fresh and managing vendor relationships for their categories.

The ideal candidate possesses experience in buying, marketing, and/or finance, with a track record of successful relationship management, strong analytical acumen, and experience generating and managing reporting and analysis. Great communication skills and understanding of Excel will be essential to your success. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who will take ownership of projects and business problems to a successful result.

Key job responsibilities
Our environment is fast-paced, and requires someone who is flexible, detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working with multiple teams, vendors, partners, and management. On a day to day basis, you will:

  • Develop long-term strategies and significantly influences cross-category plans

  • Work cross functionally, both within Amazon and the strategic vendor, and implement scalable, simple and automated solutions to address customer pain points

  • Create opportunities for growth, customer acquisition, and brand- building for multiple sub-categories

  • Audit metrics regularly, determine and prioritize business opportunities, identify risks and make recommendations to pursue

  • Identify industry trends and develop innovative marketing and merchandising initiatives to support growth

  • Drive strategic negotiations with large vendors and represent Amazon when meeting with senior leaders

  • A day in the life

  • Be the ‘business owner’ for your vendors and regions, working autonomously and possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact your vendors

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external partners, while meeting tight deadlines

  • Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability goals for your category

  • Analyze weekly and monthly performance metrics and manage communication with internal and external stakeholders to hit financial targets

  • Provide input for your category regarding promotional activity, space allocation, pricing, productivity analysis, and forecasting

About the team
This team is a highly collaborative team of category managers and risk managers that collaborate across three offices (Arlington, Seattle, and NYC). We problem solve together and individually (often with weekly brainstorming sessions and open forums where we ideate on solutions), identify and implement scalable solutions for root causes, and above all obsess over our customer and potential customers. We celebrate one another's successes and support each other through headwinds as we work towards our shared goal of growing this category.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience using Excel and other business analytic tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with software and editing tools (including HTML, Excel and SQL)
  • Experience in online retail
  • Experience using analytical specific tools such as Google Analytics, SQL or HTML

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
