Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

As an UX Researcher, you will be a valuable member of Amazon Leo’s User Experience team, and will define and design exceptional experiences that delight our customers across the globe. You will contribute to the UX Research practice for Amazon Leo and help establish internal processes and mechanisms to enable our research efforts to scale. Your research will help define and evaluate how Amazon Leo customers discover, learn about, purchase, and utilize their service. You will think strategically, solve complex problems, uncover customer needs and insights, and translate them into actionable ideas that can inform product vision. You'll also leverage generative AI tools to enhance workflows, using them to develop evaluate conceptual directions, synthesize feedback, increase velocity, and accelerate ideation processes.
A successful candidate will be customer-obsessed and able to work autonomously to drive impact as part of a large growing cross-functional team. Our product, marketing, and engineering partners are eager to hear the insights the Kuiper UX team produces, as we directly influence the design of existing and new programs that impact the business and customer experience. You also have a nimble, creative, and pragmatic approach, and you're interested in pushing the boundaries of agile research. Your data will enable executive leaders make well-informed decisions and help UX Designers craft beautiful and compelling experiences that will be used by customer segments across a variety of business sizes.
The ideal candidate is customer-obsessed, has a deep understanding of traditional user research methods and best practices, and has experience collecting user insights and feedback to validate designs. You are a passionate researcher with uncanny observational and analytical skills, an impressive ability to collaborate with other teams and designers, and a relentless determination to do what is right for Amazon's customers. You can work with minimal direction and are capable of moving quickly while delivering high-quality outputs.

- Key job responsibilities
- Partner with UX and product teams to identify research opportunities and prioritize research questions based on analysis of current knowledge, project goals, and risks.
- Contribute to defining and documenting all aspects of the user research within the end-to-end product development lifecycle (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, communicating, budgeting research), making autonomous decisions to evaluate which user research methodology approaches work, and which don’t.
- Communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
- Work closely with UX Designers (and other cross-functional team members when applicable) to drive effective user research.
- Utilize best practices to create long-term research plans, roadmaps and opportunity frameworks that align to and inform business strategy and goals.
- Apply front-end user research skills to deliver on actionable user insights for partner teams.
- Drive impact to the business and customer experience, as measured by changes that improve designs and changes to development roadmap.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of proven success leading User Research projects with demonstrated impact experience
- Bachelor's degree in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field
- Experience in leading User Research projects with demonstrated impact
- Experience (end to end) with all aspects of research (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting)
- Experience with lab-based user testing, remote testing, iterative prototype testing, survey design, and usage of multiple methods within a study
- Have a portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g., study plans, reports, personas)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience conducting research for consumer-facing or enterprise experiences.
- Research experience on mobile/web/desktop in a global context
- Experience with mixed research methods (generative, behavioral, attitudinal, evaluative) including study design, moderation, analysis, reporting.
- Ability to manage high degree of ambiguity, work autonomously and make impact in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for understanding the latest learnings and innovations in behavioral science, research methods, and UX design and applying these to your work.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to defend the data and articulate the rationale behind your product improvement recommendations.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
