Amazon is seeking an experienced Capacity Manager to lead First Mile Capacity Planning for our Brazil operations. This role will drive the evolution of our capacity planning capabilities, implementing sophisticated, data-driven frameworks that balance cost efficiency with service excellence.

The ideal candidate will establish productivity-based capacity models, develop structured planning frameworks, and implement optimization tools that enable sustainable operational efficiency across our First Mile network. You will work closely with S&OP, Network Design, Middle Mile, and Operations teams to create an integrated capacity planning framework.

Key job responsibilities

Capacity Planning & Optimization:

Own end-to-end First Mile capacity planning for Brazil, including Under the Roof (UTR) and On the Road (OTR) capacity dimensions across all Pick Up nodes and Seller Processing Centers (SPCs)
Develop productivity-based capacity models that establish correlations between volume, labor, productivity, and cost
Define capacity constraints for both UTR and OTR operations, including Transportation Capacity for seller pickups and productivity-based capacity ceilings
Model infrastructure capacity at collocated nodes where First Mile and Last Mile operations share resources
Partner with S&OP teams to enhance forecast quality by incorporating seasonal patterns and operational directives
Develop validation frameworks and quality metrics to assess forecast accuracy and reliability
Create feedback loops between actual performance and forecast inputs to drive continuous improvement

Cross-Functional Integration
Strengthening alignment between First Mile, Network Design, Capacity Planning, and Middle Mile teams to create integrated planning processes
Establish capacity frameworks and improve information flow across logistics operations
Build strong partnerships with operations teams to achieve delivery targets and productivity goals
Identify opportunities for route, vehicle, and volume consolidation to improve truck utilization and efficiency
Develop optimization frameworks (including Linear Programming and solver-based approaches) for network planning
Analyze transportation flows from Pickup Nodes to Processing and Sorting Centers to identify efficiency opportunities

Process Development & Efficiency:

Implement automated, structured planning tools and frameworks for capacity management
Develop scenario analysis capabilities and constraint visibility dashboards
Create standardized processes and documentation to support scalable operations
Drive operational cost optimization through productivity-based capacity modeling and efficient resource allocation
Identify and quantify opportunities through improved capacity utilization and network efficiency
Balance cost optimization with service level requirements and growth objectives

About the team
Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is Amazon's "Last Mile" and "First Mile" delivery and pick-up service, responsible for handling packages to/from homes and businesses across the planet. Within AMZL, the Planning team is responsible for planning critical business aspects of the operations such as geographical coverage, volume/capacity planning and weekly execution of the plans. We are focused on planning Amazon's last mile and first mile network to reach the best balance between capacity availability, productivity and accuracy.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field
  • Experience with tools/systems to analyze data including Excel, Access, SQL or other data management systems
  • Experience implementing process improvements
  • Speak, write, and read fluently in English
  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
  • Experience in supply chain management, planning, strategic sourcing, commodity management or program management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in optimization mathematics such as linear programming and nonlinear optimization
  • Experience in transportation or supply chain within a high-volume logistics, manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Experience with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
