Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales Support

Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service.

Assist customers by making product suggestions and answering inquiries.
-
Engage in suggestive selling through telephone, intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one customer interactions.
-
Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer concerns and escalate to the Store Director when necessary.
Department Operations & Merchandising
-
Rotate and discard outdated or spoiled product; maintain a clean and organized work area and department.
-
Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays to support sales and visual standards.
-
Ensure merchandise is accurately priced, properly signed, and neatly displayed.
-
Maintain clean shelves, back‑room areas, display cases, and Frozen Food Department areas.
-
Assist in other areas of the Grocery Department as needed.
-
Follow and uphold all department standards and procedural requirements.
Inventory, Stocking & Product Quality
-
Control inventory to maintain proper product quantity, quality, and freshness in alignment with division directives.
-
Stock, rotate, and organize product to ensure freshness and optimal presentation.
-
Supervise reclamation processing and maintain in‑stock conditions across all Frozen Food areas.
-
Enforce accurate code‑dating for all products within the department.
-
Assist with physical inventory every six months.
-
Control shrink and manage departmental costs effectively.
-
Ensure appropriate temperatures are maintained at all times for frozen and perishable products.
Equipment Operation & Product Handling
-
Implement correct product preparation and handling techniques.
-
Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
-
Respond appropriately to equipment or computer software malfunctions by implementing emergency procedures.
-
Use computer software and electronic ordering devices to process orders and maintain accurate item files.
Receiving, Documentation & Reporting
-
Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders with invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, and stocking/rotating product.

Follow proper temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines to ensure product integrity.

Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
-
Complete, maintain, and monitor all required logs, including daily log sheets, sales and labor reports, and departmental paperwork.
Safety, Compliance & Standards
-
Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation across all work areas, equipment, coolers, and display spaces.

Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, code‑dating standards, and frozen‑food handling requirements.

Follow all workplace safety procedures and ensure adherence to company grooming and dress code standards.

Maintain working knowledge of company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.

Perform all job duties with honesty, accuracy, and integrity.
