Assistant Starbucks Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCustomer Service & Sales

Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a strong emphasis on fast, friendly customer service.

Assist customers by making product suggestions, filling special orders, and offering food‑preparation recommendations.

Engage in suggestive selling through telephone interactions, in‑store announcements, and one‑on‑one customer interaction.

Answer incoming calls professionally; resolve customer concerns appropriately and escalate to the Store Director when necessary.
Beverage Preparation, Quality & Safety
-
Possess full knowledge of all department duties, including preparation, brewing, and serving beverages and food items.

Maintain proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques for all Starbucks products.
Operate all Starbucks‑related equipment, including:
-
Coffee grinders, coffee machines, espresso machines
-
Blenders, ovens (conventional & microwave)
-
Kitchen utensils, scales, printers, and pallet jacks
-
Brew coffee and tea according to company standards.
-
Maintain hot and cold food items per temperature and quality guidelines.
-
Ensure product temperatures are maintained in all stages of preparation, display, and storage.
Customer Transactions & Register Operations
-
Operate electronic cash registers accurately to total customer purchases.
-
Accept various forms of payment and provide correct change.
-
Ensure proper procedures and workflow for the Starbucks coffee bar layout.
Department Cleanliness, Sanitation & Presentation
-
Maintain case cleanliness, sanitation, and visual appeal of all Starbucks displays.
-
Ensure the cleanliness and safe operation of all Starbucks equipment and the surrounding work environment.
-
Maintain orderly, stocked, and visually appealing displays, rotating and removing outdated or spoiled products promptly.
-
Ensure compliance with company sanitation, safety, and cleanliness standards.
Team Leadership & Training
-
Schedule employees to ensure proper coverage and service levels.
-
Supervise, train, and assign duties to Starbucks team members.
-
Train employees in store policies, customer service expectations, beverage preparation, and proper record‑keeping procedures.
-
Identify employees with strong potential and support development toward advancement opportunities.
-
Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance.
-
Initiate personnel actions such as interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary steps.
Operations & Department Management
-
Plan daily Starbucks operations and monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and profitability.
-
Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every 4 weeks.
-
Maintain and organize the cooler and back‑room storage areas.
-
Manage and control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness in accordance with division standards.
-
Build and maintain promotional and seasonal beverage displays.
-
Understand and execute all opening and closing procedures for the Starbucks department.
-
Maintain working knowledge of company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
Receiving, Stocking & Administrative Responsibilities
Perform receiving duties including:

Breaking down loads
-
Verifying orders using invoices
-
Inspecting product quality
-
Reporting shortages
-
Stocking and rotating product
-
Adhere to proper temperature and storage guidelines.
-
Follow correct packaging and labeling procedures.
-
Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate departmental records.
