Make your mark in Talbot

With offices in the U.S., London and Asia Pacific, Talbot is the managing agent of Syndicate 1183 at Lloyd’s. Syndicate 1183 underwrites a number of classes of business including war and terrorism, energy, marine, financial lines, cyber, transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap & ransom, contingency, property and treaty reinsurance. Through its expert team of underwriters and a balanced, geographically-diverse portfolio of business, Talbot has earned a reputation as an industry-leading insurance and reinsurance specialist.

How you will create an impact

  • To ensure all documentation to be scanned and indexed into the DMS system that comes through the Core Team.
  • To ensure data entry is in accordance with agreed guidelines, e.g. endorsements, quotes, promise lines
  • To ensure consistent field use within the Core team.
  • To ensure accuracy and the resolution of any grey areas, of data entry manuals or and escalating any Issues.
  • To ensure accuracy and timeliness of entry for endorsements.
  • Attend and prepare necessary documentation for Core team meetings and for the monthly Operations meeting.
  • To be a SME and/or Super user on Underwriting Systems as required.
  • Ensure both personal and allocated class(es) compliance with document retention policy.
  • To build and maintain close working relationships with Underwriters and Capita.
  • To act in accordance with all regulatory standards and principals
  • Ad-hoc and general administration duties as and when required
  • To run, update and upload the PMD report to Lloyds before the 15th of each month.

Premium Management

  • To prepare, produce and distribute weekly premium management reports such as large movement and signed variance reports.
  • To liaise and work with all Underwriting Teams in all areas of Premium Management data integrity/ allocation and answer any queries they may have.
  • Responsible for USM processing and corrections where applicable
  • To process and validate risks signed through Xchanging; validation of all Underwriting Signing Messages (USMs).
  • To carry out daily posting, to ensure end of month process posting deadlines are reached.
  • Liaise with UTS, Underwriting, Xchanging and Brokers on processing queries, action and monitor until resolved.
  • Identify and liaise with underwriters and chase as appropriate, for partial risks where premium has been processed through Xchanging.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Excellent general computer literacy. Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power

Point and Outlook:

  • Detail-oriented
  • Diploma / Degree in any field. Chartered Insurance Institute preferred.
  • Able to operate independently with little direction or guidance. Self-reliance, use of initiative- a ‘self-starter’.
  • Able to prioritize
  • Strong team working approach.
  • Strong analytical skills. Calm, rational and methodical approach
  • Verbal, written and professional presence and ability to communicate at all levels with excellent negotiation skills
