Manager, Warehouse Operations at AbbVie
About the role
The Warehouse Operations Manager oversees facility and research support services across a multi-site campus that includes biomanufacturing, research, administrative, and warehouse environments. This hands-on, highly mobile leadership role provides direct management of Loading Dock operations and staff, ensuring efficient asset and inventory management, logistics coordination, safety and regulatory compliance, and ongoing process improvement. The manager is responsible for asset flow, storage, and disposition between campus and off-site warehouses, identifying opportunities to enhance operations and implementing innovative solutions. The role also entails off-hour coverage for site emergencies including adverse weather, critical infrastructure incidents, and unforeseen operational disruptions to ensure rapid response and maintain continuity of business operations. Active involvement in daily operations such as asset transport and event setups is essential for seamless site functionality and sustained business continuity.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily logistics and planning to support efficient operations across office, laboratory, and manufacturing sites.
- Supervise Loading Dock functions, managing incoming and outgoing shipments and material handling activities.
- Manage warehouse operations, space utilization, inventory accuracy, and process improvement initiatives. Coordinate asset storage, transport, and disposition between campus and off-site warehouse facilities ensuring compliance with Abb Vie procedures.
- Oversee non-asset facility maintenance activities to maintain uninterrupted business operations. Manage the supply, filling, and distribution of bottled gases and other essential laboratory materials.
- Coordinate and set up meeting and conference rooms in support of company events and activities.
- Administer key management and facility access systems to ensure security and proper access control.
- Supervise and ensure compliance of contracted service providers within the facility.
- Lead, train, and manage direct reports, delegating tasks to support all facility operations, delivering formal and informal feedback, addressing performance concerns, rewarding high performers, and improving overall team performance.
- Partner with diverse customer base and deliver outstanding customer service. Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators. Listen to and understand others' points of view and articulate tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
- Drive results, demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills to meet all targets and metric standards set by site/department and division leaders.
- Associate/Bachelors Degree in related field or discipline and/or 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to implement effective site operational programs as well as evaluate and recommend corrective actions/processes within multi-disciplined biomanufacturing and/or research environments.
- Competent user skills with computer (database management, spreadsheets, and word processing).
