About the Role
This position reports to: Production Engineering Specialist
The work model for this role is: Onsite
This role is contributing to the Primary GIS in Xiamen, China. Main stakeholders are ELDS.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to optimize the Production organization's assembly methods, processes, and equipment to minimize labor hours in accordance with business strategies related to quality, efficiency, costs, and safety. Each day, you will ensure appropriate production methods, cycle time, equipment performance, and materials/components in support of production targets. You will also showcase your expertise by defining the working phase sequence of a new production process to achieve the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget.
Responsibilities
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Optimize the Production organization's assembly methods, processes, and equipment to minimize labor hours in accordance with business strategies related to quality, efficiency, costs, and safety
- Actively study new equipment and new technology to prepare for automation and intelligent factory setup together with the Intelligent Manufacturing team
- Develop Overall Layout, Value Stream Map, Standard Operation Procedures, and Standard Labor Time setup
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of existing production processes, identify bottlenecks and waste points, propose and implement improvement measures to achieve process optimization
- Implement effective RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to track improvement performance
- Develop standardized operation instructions (SOPs) to ensure consistency and replicability of production operations and reduce human errors
- Rationally plan the layout of production lines according to production needs to ensure smooth flow of materials and reduce handling distance and time
- Design or improve fixtures and production auxiliary equipment to improve production efficiency and product quality
- Use cost analysis tools to evaluate costs in the production process and identify cost savings opportunities
- Implement cost control measures, such as reducing material loss and improving equipment utilization, to achieve cost savings
- Evaluate new process technologies to improve productivity, quality, and cost reduction, defining and leading testing activities, approval criteria, and external provider choices
- Lead or participate in lean production, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement projects to promote continuous optimization of production systems
- Set up new production lines together with the Intelligent Manufacturing team

- Be part of a young, dynamic and international team, finding and formulating new ideas for smart factories, collaborating with project teams to develop ideas into solutions and launch them
General Responsibilities
- Based on a good understanding of current processes and methods, collaborate with the team to redesign the future smart factory architecture in material/information flow and operational processes, incorporating industry standards and requirements
- Actively research new equipment and new technologies to prepare for automation and intelligent factory setup together with the Intelligent Manufacturing team

- Conduct rapid failure analysis and quick troubleshooting as soon as possible
- Improve production efficiency from a holistic perspective
- Implement effective RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to track improvement performance
- Develop effective KPIs to track waste reduction and cost savings
- Establish new production lines together with the Intelligent Manufacturing team
- Practice ABB's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your actions while caring for colleagues and the enterprise
- Be a member of a young, vibrant and internationalized team, identifying and formulating new ideas for smart factories, collaborating with project teams to develop ideas into solutions and implement them

Qualifications
Education Background
- Bachelor's degree or above in science and engineering disciplines such as mechanical engineering, automation, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, electronic engineering, or related fields
Working Experience
- Experience in Industrial Engineering, Production Lean Improvement, Operation Excellence and related fields
- Strong improvement mindset and solid improvement results
- Good electrical safety awareness and full understanding of electrical safety regulations
Position Knowledge/Skills
- Sound knowledge of Industrial Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing (lean production, automation)
- Proficiency in relevant computer software such as Solid Works, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), MES (Manufacturing Execution System), etc., to carry out process design, production scheduling and data analysis
- Experience participating in IE-related projects with actual project operation experience; able to independently complete the entire process from project planning to implementation
- Good knowledge of medium voltage switchgear is preferred
Language Skills
- Fluency in oral and written English

- Excellent communication, interpersonal and coordinating skills
- Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work under pressure; strong team spirit and ability to work under certain pressure to ensure smooth completion of work tasks
- Good team-working spirit and ability to work independently under strong pressure
