This role will be reporting to the R&D Line Manager in business area Industrial Automation (IA) located in Bangalore. You will be working at Ability Innovation Center (AIC), home to the largest technology and engineering pool in ABB globally and is a part of ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited, a subsidiary of ABB. It is based in Bangalore, the silicon-valley of India. Its unique infrastructure places research, development, engineering, and service teams under one roof, increasing collaboration and reducing time to market, with no compromise on quality.

You will join a team of skilled engineers to lead and develop advanced industrial control applications for the energy service industry. You will contribute meaningfully to project milestones in technology and product development through identifying challenges, proposing strategies, and putting forward practical innovations. Collaborating with teams in Norway, Sweden and Germany, the breadth of technologies and control strategies employed is broad. We are looking for someone who is technically very strong. Your role and responsibilities

In this position, you will be empowered to start and manage the development of technologies, software, products, or solutions, applying thorough technical proficiency in a specific domain. Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development (R&D) for in-depth product or technology-related issues. You will also demonstrate your technical leadership by contributing to strategic corporate technology planning and shaping the architecture of upcoming products, software, and solutions.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Maintain deep technical knowledge by leveraging the latest technologies, tools, and methodologies, while applying innovative problem-solving to develop effective solutions.
• Design, develop, and maintain core software components, implement new features, and analyze and resolve system issues reported by customers or end users.
• Participate in design discussions, documentation, code reviews, and IP strategy initiatives, ensuring scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Support continuous improvement through DevOps, CI/CD, and workflow optimization, while providing technical training and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications for the role:

• B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech with 60%+ and 8–10 years of experience, including 6+ years in AngularJS design and development.
• Effective problem-solving and analytical capabilities, backed by practical web development experience (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, SQL).
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming, design patterns, and building web-based applications.
• Practical experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, relational database systems, time-series databases, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, Agile/DevOps environments, and CI/CD tools.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure, containerization (Kubernetes, Open Shift/Micro Shift), and security concepts.
• Additional advantages include experience in Industrial Automation, cybersecurity/IT networks, and knowledge of C#, .NET/.NET Core, MVC, ASP.NET, LINQ, Bootstrap, and unit testing frameworks.
