Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

The Lean Challenge is a dynamic initiative focused on developing future talent through hands on experience in continuous improvement across key operational areas.

Through innovation, teamwork, and a continuous improvement mindset, students will contribute to meaningful initiatives while gaining practical experience that drives long-term value for the organization. This program is designed to inspire problem‑solvers, develop critical skills, and support the company’s journey toward greater productivity, agility, and operational excellence.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Be part of a continuous improvement project within the plant, focused on process optimization, waste reduction, or operational performance enhancement.
• Analyze production data (cycle times, scrap, OEE, downtime) to identify improvement opportunities.
• Apply continuous improvement tools such as 5S, root cause analysis, and process standardization.
• Implement and follow up on action plans in coordination with operations teams.
• Deliver weekly project progress presentations to plant leadership and a final presentation with quantified results.

Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Administration or a related field (full availability during summer time)
• Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.
• Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Be able to demonstrate public speaking skills in English.
• Power BI, IA & Microsoft Office.
