About the Role

Are you looking for a challenging and inspiring role where you'll be an essential and visible part of an internationally active, expert team that develops, manages, and delivers cutting-edge electrical solutions for the marine sector?

As a Field Service Engineer within the Marine & Ports division, you'll be responsible for the commissioning and service of a variety of advanced systems. You will work hands-on with our high-tech harbor crane installations, primarily located in the Rotterdam area, specifically on the Maasvlakte. This means you will engage with a wide range of technical challenges involving automation systems, switchgear, distribution panels, and variable-speed drives.

ABB Marine & Ports offers a comprehensive portfolio of electrical and automation solutions for the maritime industry. Our systems, built on ABB's industry-leading technology in power, drives, and automation, have been proving their reliability in demanding marine and offshore applications for decades.

This Position reports to: Service Operations Manager

Responsibilities

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Independently perform service and maintenance on ABB products and systems
  • Collaborate with customers to identify areas for improvement and optimization
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call duty roster for emergency support

Qualifications

  • A technical diploma (Vocational Education or Bachelor) in electrical engineering or electronics
  • A few years of experience in a technical service or support role
  • Knowledge of and experience with electrical and automation processes, ideally within the cranes sector
  • Previous experience with variable frequency drives and/or control plc's would be an asset
  • A problem-solving mindset with a strong customer-service orientation—able to work regardless of time or location, and ready to travel abroad when necessary (though most work will be in the Rotterdam area)
  • Fluency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • A flexible attitude – this is not a 9-to-5 role

Benefits

Join a dynamic, international company that places a high value on the development of its people, quality, and safety. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to specialize in ABB's products and systems. We offer:

  • A salary appropriate to your knowledge, experience and this position
  • Allowances for working at location, such as an expense allowance and a daily allowance
  • A thirteenth month
  • 40 days off (27 holidays and 13 ADV)
  • The option of converting part of your leave hours into salary

  • An annual allowance for part of your sports subscription
  • A good pension scheme
