Position Overview
Reports to: R&D Team Manager
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Work Model: Onsite
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the construction, commissioning, and long-term operation of a medium voltage electrical test facility for our ABB Power Protection productions in Richmond, Virginia.
Responsibilities
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Acting as a member of the Medium Voltage (MV) lab requirements team as the lab design is finalized
- Coordinating the construction process for the lab, acting as the main point of contact for ABB between the ABB engineering teams specifying the lab, the local ABB test manager, and the contractors and subcontractors selected to build the facility, while driving the required schedule for completion
- Developing and executing plans for MV lab commissioning
- Responsible for operation and maintenance of the MV test lab in support of R&D engineering teams, including developing plans for safe operation
- Develop automated test protocols and process to streamline test execution
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or similar
- 5+ years of experience in high power electrical testing, commercial or industrial electrical systems, or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in a project management environment
- Experience in operation or testing of Medium Voltage electrical systems (up to 34.5 kV) a plus
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
