About the Role

The Senior Quality Engineer will provide in-depth knowledge of Quality Management System requirements to aid Production efforts for Proprietary Programs. They will work closely with the external customer and industrial partners. They will help develop and monitor quality metrics, develop objective evidence to support customer deliverables, and support supplier selection and requirements flow down. This position is an onsite role in White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.

Responsibilities

  • Develop partnerships with senior leaders, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and functions to define steps necessary to implement Quality strategies
  • Perform process walks and use metrics to drive quality improvements across factories and suppliers
  • Review engineering drawings and support Engineering Review Board (ERB) / Configuration Change Board (CCB) as the quality representative
  • Assure product quality and effectiveness throughout all life-cycle phases
  • Develop and Monitor program performance metrics to maintain program health, drive Continuous Improvement Efforts
  • Participate in CORE (Customer Oriented Result and Excellence) and CoPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) projects to reduce costs/increase efficiency
  • Review the Engineering program documentation, including specifications, requirements, specification control drawings, altered item drawings, assembly drawings, test plans, procedures, instructions and standard operating procedures prior to release for correctness to technical standards
  • Flex work across quality disciplines and provide surge capability to programs during key events
  • Participate in test preparation and execution to ensure requirements verification
  • Review risk and opportunity data to lead projects to eliminate or reduce risks and/or realize opportunities
  • Work in field environment
  • Work extended hours to include weekends when required to meet program and mission's objectives
  • Travel to and work in remote sites (domestic and international) to support program requirements
  • Work in hazardous environments exposed to energized equipment, radar radiation hazards, and unexploded ordnance

Required Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of five (5) years of prior experience in the areas below
  • Working experience with ISO9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management Systems
  • Working experience translating external and internal requirements and command media
  • Working experience in providing technical program support for manufacturing and/or design processes
  • Working experience in root cause analysis, corrective / preventive actions
  • Working experience using metrics to drive action and achieve results
  • Experience in the following programs: Patriot, AN/TYP-2, HAWK or LTAMDS
  • Ability to obtain IPC J-Standard, 610, and 620 Certifications
  • Active and transferrable final U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management Systems
  • Experience in Supplier Quality Engineering
  • Certification in Six Sigma, CORE, or American Society for Quality (ASQ)

  • This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply
  • Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products
