This Position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive complete, accurate, and timely completion of accounting activities for the assigned area (e.g., reporting, consolidation, etc.) within the General Accounting (GA) team. Each day, you will ensure compliance with internal guidelines, procedures, and external regulatory requirements. You will also showcase your expertise by overseeing, reviewing, and/or supporting the month-end close process including account reconciliation, preparation of journal entries, balance sheet review, etc.

As Team Lead for General Accounting, you will lead our accounting and reporting operations, ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and operational excellence across ABB's India finance division. This role bridges technical accounting expertise with strategic leadership, supporting our mission to drive sustainable industrial transformation.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid work model with flexible on-site and remote options

This role is contributing to the Finance Business Function

You will be mainly accountable for:

Leadership & Team Development:

Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team responsible for end-to-end general accounting and reporting processes Build team resilience by fostering flexibility, adaptability, and cross-functional collaboration Develop succession plans and ensure knowledge sharing across the team through task backup systems.

Financial Close & Reconciliation:

Oversee and execute monthly financial close procedures with accuracy and timeliness Conduct comprehensive reviews of Balance Sheet and P&L statements to identify and resolve discrepancies Review and approve Balance Sheet reconciliations in compliance with ABB policies and standards

Compliance & Internal Controls:

Ensure strict adherence to internal accounting policies, reporting standards, and regulatory requirements Maintain and strengthen internal control frameworks to protect financial integrity Align processes with ABB global standards while accommodating country-specific regulatory needs.

Reporting & Audit Support:

Review reporting documentation for accuracy and completeness before submission to leadership Support statutory and tax audits with prompt responses to audit requests and inquiries Proactively identify and escalate reporting risks and process gaps.

Stakeholder Engagement & Process Excellence:

Collaborate with the Controllers community to address accounting, closing, and reporting challenges Monitor and ensure achievement of functional KPIs and SLAs Identify process bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)Education & Credentials:

Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost Accountant, or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.

Professional Experience:

  • 6–8 years in general accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation, and journal processing.
  • 1–3 years in leading teams, preferably in ABB or similar multinational organizations.
  • Proven expertise in Record-to-Report (R2R) processes and financial close cycles.
  • Background in multi-country or cluster operations is highly valued

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Mandatory: Strong hands-on experience with SAP .

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and drive process standardization. Flexibility to work in shifts and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Proactive mindset with focus on continuous improvement
