PLM Business Analyst & Solution Designer (Engineering Applications)

This Position reports to: R&D Department/Local Unit Lead
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Management
- Analyze engineering and product development processes
- Elicit, structure, and document business and system requirements
- Facilitate workshops and alignment meetings with stakeholders
- Perform business value and system impact assessments
- Maintain structured requirement and solution documentation
Solution Design & Development
- Continuously improve engineering processes, data models, and workflows (BOM, Change, Configuration, Documents)
- Contribute to solution architecture in engineering applications with a focus on PLM and CAD, as well as end-to-end integration
- Define functional and technical concepts in cooperation with business, as well as internal and external IS/IT consultants
- Review and validate system implementations
User Enablement & Change Management
- Design training and onboarding concepts for local engineers
- Improve usability and self-service capabilities
- Support adoption of standardized engineering processes
- Contribute to change and communication initiatives
Architecture & Strategic Development
- Support target architecture and roadmap development
- Contribute to harmonization of PLM, ERP, CAD, and ALM systems
- Participate in technology evaluations and pilot projects
- Identify automation and digitalization opportunities
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in PLM environments (Teamcenter, Windchill, or comparable)
- Proven experience in business analysis, solution design, or system implementation
- Experience working with engineering or manufacturing organizations
- Experience in international and cross-functional project teams
Technical & Methodological Skills
PLM & Engineering Systems
- Solid knowledge of PLM systems (preferably Windchill) and:
- BOM management
- Change and configuration management
- Document management
- Product lifecycle concepts
- Experience with CAD systems (preferably Creo & NX)
- Knowledge of Product Architecture Lifecycle Management and Modularization Concepts
- Knowledge of PLM–ERP integration
Business Analysis & Design
- Requirements engineering and documentation
- Process modeling and analysis
- Test and validation methodologies (UAT, SIT)
Architecture & Integration (Preferred)
- Understanding of system landscapes and interfaces
- Basic knowledge of APIs, middleware, or data integration
- Knowledge of data governance concepts
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and structured working style
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- High level of ownership and accountability
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
- Ability to work independently in distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PLM migration or harmonization programs
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Archi Mate)
- Experience with SAP (ECC / S/4HANA) integration
- Agile / Scrum / PMP certification
- Experience in regulated or complex manufacturing environments
