Your role and responsibilities:

You will be in the role of Health, Safety and Environment Manager, assisting managers and employees to deliver a culture through clear line management accountability and a competent organization in the Process Industries division based in Egypt. You will improve health, safety, and environment (HSE) performance to ensure a solid health and safety culture as well as a comprehensive focus on the environment.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Driving end-to-end Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management across the full business lifecycle—from Sales to Execution—for the assigned business and geographies. Embed the ABB Way HSSE & SA Management System across the organization, ensuring it is understood and applied at all levels. Providing HSE input into key business decisions to support safe execution and risk management assurance.
• Driving the execution of the global Division HSE/SA strategic plan within the LBL, ensuring alignment with ABB Way requirements and Divisional HSE/SA guardrails. Overseeing the overall LBL HSE performance, monitor local progress, and ensure fulfillment of annual HSE/SA objectives and targets.
• Overseeing internal and external audits in Mining, Grinding Applications, Aluminum & Cement, coordinating location-specific security concepts, and empowering management to understand obligations, liability, and encourage behavioral change.
• Leading and advising on risk management from sales through to project delivery by implementing Risk & Opportunity standards and Activity-Based Risk Assessments.
• Ensuring all HSE indicators, incident data, root cause analyses, and key learnings are accurately tracked and reported. Utilizing insights to outperform targets and embed cross-functional ownership of HSE outcomes across operations
• Driving changes based on investigated incidents, defining and monitoring HSE budgets, planning and executing HSE projects.
• Actively engaging with Local Business Line management, internal functions, and external stakeholders to align expectations and foster a culture of shared HSE ownership & operational accountability. Embed ABB ‘Care’ values in all contractors, third-party, and supply chain interactions to ensure a consistent commitment to our people safety and their well-being.

Qualifications for the role:

• You have a university degree in engineering and holding a professional global HSE certification (NEBOSH Level 6) or equivalent.
• You possess expertise in international HSE regulations, project management, and strategic HSE program management, including hands-on experience implementing ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 global certifications.
• Ability to travel in the MENA region as required.
• Ability to manage complex issues and work in cross-functional teams.
• You are at ease communicating in English; French language will be an advantage.
• You are focused on a collaborative, solution-focused approach, and possess excellent written and spoken communication abilities.
