Position Overview
Reports to: Sales Director – Installation Products, India
Work Model: Onsite
Location: Chennai, India
Division: ABB India, Electrification Business Installation Products
Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to handle sales, marketing and prescription activities related to products, within the defined industry segment for PAN India. Each day, you will ensure that the division and related sales units substantially improve their sales, margins, market share, and customer satisfaction in the select market segment. You will also showcase your skills by developing and implementing a market-based strategy including direct, third party, and project sales and enhancing cross-division and cross-region business-led collaborations for the specific market segment.
Key Accountabilities:

Business & Sales Leadership: Own sales budgets and facilitate business growth in the Rail segment with regional responsibility across Installation Products, including Cable Protection Systems, Wire & Cable Management, and Medium Voltage connectors.

Customer & Market Development: Build solid relationships with key customers, consultants, and influencers, expand market coverage, acquire new customers, and ensure ABB brand inclusion in consultant vendor lists.

Market Intelligence & Opportunity Identification: Conduct market visits, competitive benchmarking, and trend analysis to understand customer needs, identify product gaps, and develop new business opportunities.

Sales Execution & Customer Satisfaction: Support end-to-end sales processes by addressing customer issues, communicating commercial terms, delivery timelines, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Collaboration, Marketing & Reporting: Coordinate cross-division collaboration, execute effective marketing activities to articulate ABB's value proposition, and provide regular sales performance reports with insights to management.
Qualifications for the Role
Education & Experience
- BE in Electrical & Electronics with 12–15 years of experience in the switchgear industry
Product & Market Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of ABB Installation Products and solid understanding of customer and market dynamics
Strategic Leadership
- Guiding strategic business development initiatives to ensure sustainable growth
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain reliable relationships with key customers and internal/external stakeholders
Strategic Thinking
- Proficient ability to devise and carry out effective sales and marketing strategies aligned with business objectives
Communication Skills
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills to engage teams, customers, and senior stakeholders effectively
Methodical & Problem-Solving Skills
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions while resolving complex business challenges
Digital & Commercial Acumen
- Familiarity with digital marketing tools, CRM systems, and online channels, with the ability to support strategic commercial objectives and growth initiatives

The Division's products are engineered to provide ease of installation and perform in demanding and harsh conditions, helping to ensure safety and continuous operation for utilities, businesses and people around the world.
Commercial Essentials
Electrical junction boxes, commercial fittings, strut and cable tray metal framing systems for commercial and residential construction.
Premier Industrial
Multiple product lines, such as Ty-Rap® cable ties, T&B Liquid tight Systems® protection products, PVC coated and nylon conduit systems, power connection and grounding systems, and cable protection systems of conduits and fittings for harsh and industrial applications.
Medium-Voltage Applications
Solutions for medium-voltage applications used in the utility market under marquee brands including Elastimold™ reclosers and switchgear, capacitor switches, current limiting fuses, Homac™ distribution connectors, Hi-Tech Valiant™ full-range current limiting fuse for fire mitigation, faulted current indicators and distribution connectors, cable accessories and apparatus with products for overhead and underground distribution. Manufacturing includes made-to-stock and custom-made solutions.
