About the Role
This Position reports to: Sales Manager
We are looking for a strategic and dynamic Business Development Manager to develop our High-Speed Synchronous and Slow-Speed Synchronous machines business in Japan. This role focuses on a portfolio of reliable, energy-efficient synchronous motors and generators, as well as grid-stabilizing synchronous condensers. As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing account strategies across designated customers, markets, and business segments. You'll manage key existing accounts while actively identifying and cultivating new customer relationships. Your goal is to drive growth and enhance customer satisfaction. You'll work in a global environment with cutting-edge technologies in the power and marine industries, collaborating with a team of technology-driven and customer-focused professionals.
Work model: Hybrid
Reporting Structure: You will report directly to the Local Sales Manager, Motion High Power Division, Japan, and functionally to the Global Business Line Marketing and Sales Managers for High-Speed and Slow-Speed Synchronous products.
Responsibilities
- Expand market presence in Japan for synchronous generators, and as needed, motors and synchronous condensers
- Understand / analyze customer needs for the portfolio, securing customer advantages and benefits as well as white spot analysis and connected strategies to penetrate the market
- Develop and implement a country strategy aligned with global business goals to drive growth and superior customer experience
- Ensure ABB's customer value propositions are well understood and utilized by Japan Sales and Account Managers
- Develop and maintain a player map of key customers and stakeholders across functions
- Drive go-to-market initiatives and foster close cooperation within Japan MOHP
- Lead the discussion in contract negotiations, pricing discussions, and agreement renewals
- Ensure excellent customer and market support, and successful delivery of product management and development projects
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 7 years of proven, aggressive sales experience in the Industrial Equipment/B2B sector, focusing on new business acquisition
- Role Focus: Must have a strong "Hunter" mindset with demonstrable ability to launch and execute market penetration strategies independently
- Japanese Language: Complete professional fluency in Japanese is mandatory for all local business communication and understanding of Japanese customs
