Role Overview
We are seeking an RF Engineer to design, develop, and scale the head sub-system for our humanoid robot, NEO. This role involves developing and integrating the RF systems that enable the robot’s expressive, perceptive, and functional capabilities.
You will be responsible for hands-on design, prototyping, and system integration while working closely with mechanical, software, manufacturing and industrial design teams. You will own connectivity components and assemblies throughout their lifecycle, from initial concept and prototyping to validation and mass production. Your work will directly influence the reliability, safety, aesthetics, and scalability of humanoid robots deployed worldwide.
The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with strong RF design skills who thrives in a fast-paced product development environment.
Responsibilities
- Own WiFi, 5G and other wireless subsystems from the hardware perspective
- Design, select and integrate antennas into the robot, ensuring proper specs and performance are achieved
- Validate OTA performance via field testing and throughput testing
- Define factory test specifications, contribute to failure analysis and ensure test coverage is sufficient
- Interpret electronic component datasheets to select parts based on performance, cost, and availability
- Collaborate with mechanical and firmware teams to ensure system-level integration and functionality
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, including antenna theory, transmission lines and key RF system level specifications (transmit power, sensitivity, desense, EVM, etc)
- Proficiency with lab equipment such as VNAs, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers
- Ability to solder PCB components as needed
- Debug, characterize, and optimize across thermal, EMI, and signal-integrity domains
- Able to work full-time on-site
Nice-to-Have
- Consumer electronics experience
- Experience with embedded systems and firmware fundamentals
- Experience with PCB layout tools such as Altium
