Engineering Manager

Dear hiring team,
I understand that the central requirement for this Engineering Manager role is building an engineering team that can make sound technical decisions, deliver predictably, grow people, and operate what it ships. I am motivated by management work that increases the team’s decision quality and ownership rather than making every decision depend on the manager.
As Senior Engineering Manager, I held both execution and review responsibility. As workstream lead, I translated engineering strategy into team ownership and technical investment decisions, balancing roadmap commitments against reliability work. I documented which work was deferred and the risk accepted.
Within that same senior scope, I also owned the following work. With responsibility for the review standard, I established technical review expectations and an engineering growth rubric. I used project evidence in coaching conversations so promotion recommendations were tied to demonstrated scope rather than visibility.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the decisions and delivery I owned, and how I could apply that experience in this role.
Sincerely,
J. Lee
