AI systems are rapidly evolving from single-model endpoints into intelligent agents capable of reasoning, planning, and executing complex tasks across tools and data sources. Zoom’s AI Incubation team is building both the core infrastructure that powers agent execution at scale and the hero AI agents that demonstrate real-world reasoning and automation capabilities.

About the Team

We are seeking AI Software Engineers who are excited to work across the full stack of modern AI systems — from agent design and prompt orchestration to scalable runtime infrastructure and production reliability. This role is ideal for engineers who want to build real AI systems in production, not just model demos.

Responsibilities:

• Designing and implement intelligent agents capable of multi-step reasoning and tool use

• Developing prompt orchestration and evaluation strategies

• Implementing guardrails against prompt injection, malformed inputs, and unsafe behavior

• Designing asynchronous job orchestration and execution pipelines

• Building scalable inference and runtime systems

• Implementing cost-aware controls (token limits, step limits, runtime caps)

• Building observability tools for tracing and debugging agent behavior

• Ensuring enterprise-grade reliability, security, and data isolation

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience

• Have experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or agent frameworks

• Have experience with model serving, inference optimization, or asynchronous processing systems

• Have familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, or retrieval systems

• Have familiarity of secure system design (authentication, rate limiting, multi-tenant isolation)

• Have experience evaluating AI systems using structured test cases and metrics

• Have experience building developer platforms or AI APIs

• Be proficient in modern programming languages (Python, Java, Go, or similar)

Salary Range or On Target Earnings:

Minimum:

$151,800.00

Maximum:

$332,200.00

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations.
