About the team

At Zillow Group, our mission is to empower people to unlock life’s next chapter. The Platform Product team enables Zillow product teams to build and scale products faster by providing reliable, easy‑to‑use platforms and services that power data‑driven customer experiences. We focus on solving real engineering and data problems so teams can spend more time delivering value to customers navigating some of the biggest decisions of their lives.

About the role

As a Senior Product Manager for Data Platforms, you will define how Zillow uses event‑driven systems to connect products and data in real time. You will own the strategy and execution for our eventing platform, establishing the standards, tooling, and operating model that make it easy for teams across Zillow to build, integrate, and ship new capabilities. This platform will shape how teams launch new experiences, share data, and respond instantly to customer actions, accelerating innovation, improving reliability, and enabling smarter use of data across product, analytics, and AI. Your work will directly influence how quickly teams can move and how effectively Zillow delivers value to customers as they navigate their next chapter.

You Will Get To

  • Own the roadmap for one or more data platform capabilities from discovery through launch and iteration, defining clear problems, success metrics, and priorities based on customer needs and business goals.

  • Build deep empathy for internal customers—including engineers, analysts, and data scientists—to ensure platforms are intuitive, reliable, and reduce friction for teams producing and consuming data.

  • Partner closely with engineering, data science, AI, and product teams to shape solutions, make thoughtful trade‑offs, and ensure platform capabilities meet real‑world usage needs across Zillow.

  • Establish and evolve the standards, tooling, and operating model for our eventing platform so teams can consistently build, integrate, and launch event‑driven experiences at scale.

  • Drive usage and adoption of data platform capabilities through thoughtful rollouts, enablement, documentation, and clear feedback loops with partner teams.

  • Measure and communicate impact using adoption, reliability, and developer‑experience metrics, and use these insights to prioritize improvements and inform the roadmap.

  • Champion event‑driven architecture and platform best practices across Zillow, helping teams launch new experiences, share data, and respond to customer actions in real time.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $148,600.00 - $237,400.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.

In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont the standard base pay range for this role is $141,200.00 - $225,600.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.

Who you are

  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally building internal platforms or data products that support multiple teams and use cases.

  • Strong technical fluency with data platforms, event‑driven systems, pipelines, APIs, and core platform‑architecture concepts, and the ability to understand and discuss technical trade‑offs without being an engineer.

  • Proven ability to define and evolve platform strategy—distilling what customers truly need in the long term versus what they are asking for in the moment.

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering complex products end‑to‑end, with strong prioritization and decision‑making skills in ambiguous, fast‑changing environments.

  • Clear, concise communicator who can translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences and influence engineers and stakeholders through data, customer insights, and strong product judgment.

  • Comfortable driving adoption and change across multiple teams, using metrics, feedback, and enablement to continuously improve the platform experience.

  • Excited to work in a highly collaborative environment where you partner closely with engineering, data science, AI, and product teams to deliver company‑wide impact.

  • Here at Zillow, we value the experience and perspective of candidates with non‑traditional backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills or related experiences.
