About the team

Street Easy, part of Zillow Group, is reimagining how people buy, sell, and rent homes across New York City and New Jersey by combining vetted listings, intuitive search tools, and data-driven guidance. Our technology- and data-focused team builds innovative products used by millions of people in NYC and beyond, using insights and experimentation to unlock better home-shopping experiences within the broader Zillow ecosystem.

About the role

As a Senior Data Scientist at Street Easy, you will apply a broad range of data science skills to create a fantastic experience for our consumers and partners, driving decisions that shape how people find homes in New York City and New Jersey. You will tackle large, ambiguous, and cross-functional problems in close partnership with Product, Marketing, and Strategy & Operations, turning data into insights and experiments that move the business forward.

You will join our Understand & Guide team, working on projects that improve the user experience across our apps and website. For example, you may:

  • Optimize user sign-in and sign-up flows by running A/B tests and measuring impact.

  • Leverage our unique user data to improve and personalize the experience across the app and website.

  • Build and launch new user experiences (for example, a revamped Open House sign-up) and track their performance over time.

  • This role is fully remote in Mexico, with the option to work from our Mexico City office.

You Will Get To:

  • Present customer insights, performance metrics, and experimentation results to both technical and non-technical partners, translating complex analysis into clear recommendations.

  • Identify, frame, and break down complex problems in your domain, then socialize them and partner with other teams to deliver solutions to enterprise-wide challenges.

  • Champion data-informed decision making within your product area and influence strategy with evidence-based insights.

  • Build robust data assets, including dashboards (for example, in Tableau and Databricks) and data transformation pipelines (such as using dbt), to support reliable analytics at scale.

  • Create reusable analytical frameworks (for example, simulations or causal inference analyses) that enable the broader team to move faster and more consistently.

  • Design and execute experiments (e.g., A/B tests) to measure the impact of product changes, framing problems statistically and in the broader business and customer context.

  • Partner with engineering to improve data collection, ensuring high-quality, trustworthy data for decision making.

  • Mentor and coach junior team members, sharing best practices in experimentation, analytics, and stakeholder communication.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.

Who you are

You are a data science generalist who enjoys everything from straightforward data pulls to advanced statistical modeling, and you are excited to apply those skills to real product and business problems.

  • BS degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics) or equivalent practical experience.

  • Advanced English communication skills, as most stakeholders are based in the US, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and time zones.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex issues and detailed analyses into simple, structured frameworks and concrete action plans.

  • Experience prioritizing impact through 80/20-style analysis, quickly using data to solve the most important parts of a problem in the fastest, most efficient way possible.

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python (or another programming language), with experience using tools such as Tableau and Databricks for analysis and visualization.

  • 5+ years of work experience involving quantitative data analysis and complex problem solving, ideally in a product or business setting.

  • Hands-on experience with experimentation methodologies (for example, designing, running, and interpreting A/B tests).

  • Strong product sense and business acumen, with experience collaborating with cross-functional partners (especially engineering, product, and marketing) to connect business needs with data and insights.

  • Here at Zillow, we value the experience and perspective of candidates with non-traditional backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills or related experiences.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building and productionizing machine learning models.

  • Experience working with dbt for data transformation.

  • Experience with AI-assisted development or analytics tools (for example, Cursor AI).

  • MS degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics).
