About the Team

ZF Wind Power puts wind energy in motion! The ZF Wind Power Business Unit is part of ZF group which is known as one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers. To reinforce our Design and Development Team in the Concrete Mixer Drives and Off-Highway Systems department, we are looking for a new colleague at our location in Coimbatore.

What you can look forward as Senior Technologist: casting / cast iron (m/f/d):

• Lead technical investigations into cast iron alloy compositions, microstructure-property relationships, and performance optimization.

• Collaborate on simulation-driven design and manufacturing process development.

• Provide expert guidance on material selection, failure analysis, and mechanical performance.

• Work cross-functionally with design, process engineering, and quality as well as our suppliers to enable the future of our products in terms of cost-optimization & reliability.

• This position’s focus is on cast iron but steel as well as non-ferrous materials will complete the expertise landscape to integrate into the existing Materials & Reliability team

Your Profile as Senior Technologist: casting / cast iron (m/f/d):

• Master’s Degree or PhD in Metallurgy and Material Science (preferrable), Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Physics or comparable

• 5 years of expert knowledge on casting / cast iron and R&D focused as well as heat treatment processes, influence of alloying elements and quality assurance measures

• Expert knowledge on microstructure and related quality as well as understanding of metallurgical contributors to strength

• Strong knowledge on simulation tools for casting and/or forging (e.g. MAGMASOFT® or ForgeXT®) and thermodynamic software, i.e. CALPHAD based tools.

• Understanding of physics behind failure types and relation to microstructure

• Experience in Python code, experience in Minitab and statistics is a benefit

• Open-minded and eager person to work within teams from around the globe, communicative and accountable

• Fluent in English
