About the team

You may work across the entire xAI tech stack ranging from model development to production infrastructure. This position is based in London, UK, and we will match you to a specific team at the offer stage.

About the role

Not every candidate fits neatly into our typical job postings. For instance, you might have built embedded systems for spacecraft rather than large-scale distributed infrastructure—but we’ve seen time and again that engineers who excel deeply in one hard domain tend to excel in others.
At xAI, our core work is training frontier AI models and shipping products built on them. Even if you have zero background in machine learning or consumer/infrastructure software, we strongly encourage you to apply if you’re confident you can have outsized impact here. Your previous industry or tech stack is irrelevant; what matters is a clear, demonstrated history of exceptional achievement—whether that’s debugging a mission-critical issue under impossible deadlines, turning around a failing project or company, or accomplishing something widely considered unfeasible.
