About the Team
The Federal Talent team at Workday develops cutting-edge software empowering federal agencies to manage talent effectively. We are passionate about streamlining processes for recruiting, hiring, professional development, and performance management. We truly have the opportunity to improve the federal employee experience. We thrive in a collaborative, Agile environment, embracing innovation and continuous improvement.
In this team, you’ll work alongside key architects, product managers, and federal government stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions tailored to the unique needs of the federal sector. We value teamwork, open communication, and a shared commitment to our mission.
About the Role
As a Software Applications Engineer at Workday, you will analyze, build, program, debug, and modify software improvements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs. Code may be used in commercial or end-user applications, such as materials management, financial management, HRIS, mobile apps or desktop applications products. Using current programming language and technologies, you write code, complete programming, and perform testing and debugging of applications. You also complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. Expect to interact with users to define system requirements and/or vital modifications.
This role will support one or more direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government which, due to federal government security requirements, mandates that all Workday personnel working on the contracts be United States citizens (naturalized or native). Workday is proud of its diverse workforce, but regrets that it is currently unable to sponsor employment visas or consider individuals on time-limited visa status for this position.
About You
You are a passionate software engineer who treats development as a craft—continuously learning, sharing knowledge, and mentoring others. You love tackling complex business problems that impact millions of users, and you thrive in small, highly collaborative agile teams. You care deeply about clean, well-designed, and testable code, and you’re excited by building scalable cloud applications that push the boundaries of what’s possible. You’re energized by innovation, enjoy working in a fun and supportive culture, and are motivated by seeing your work directly improve the experience of customers around the world.
If this sounds like you, here's the game plan. After participating in our technology boot camp, you'll get to dive immediately into building a product that is appreciated by hundreds of customers such as: Salesforce.com, Netflix, lululemon athletica and many others. With every dev project that you work on here, you'll create a direct impact on Workday's product suite that pushes the latest innovations in cloud and mobile technology. And, your contributions will be part of what makes Workday unique: our culture, our core values, our company meetings, our commitment to sustainability, our recognition programs, but most importantly, our people. With your talent, we'll continue winning our game in the cloud!

Our Approach to Flexible Work
With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote home office roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
At Workday, we are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive hiring experience where all candidates can fully demonstrate their skills. If you require assistance or an accommodation at any point, please email accommodationsworkday.com.
