Senior GIS Consultant (Remote)

Location: This is a remote role and the hire can be based anywhere in the United States.

Description:

A Senior GIS Consultant works closely with customers to deliver and support geospatial services and provides expertise in Geospatial Enterprise Asset Management best practices. The Senior GIS Consultant is responsible for working with clients to develop specifications and plans for new GIS system implementations and spatial applications, re-engineering or expansion of existing spatial systems, and integration with external systems or software.

Essential Functions:

• Provide GIS and spatial data expertise to solve complex client problems.

• Stay current on GIS software and changes in the industry.

• Communicate GIS concepts clearly to teammates and clients in writing and diagrams.

• Lead scope development, detailed business process development, and blueprint activities.

• Work with customer to assess current business and system processes and support definition of solutions and improvement plans.

• Serve as subject matter expert for GIS best practices an advises customers on asset, process, and industry best practice.

• Develop or assist with the development of GIS-related requirements and process-related project deliverables:

• Spatial database development

• Expert in spatial data migration

• Data quality assessment

• Expert in developing Design Documentation (GIS-related portions)

• Expert in generation of Test Scripts

• User Documentation

• Expert in running User Acceptance Testing

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS or related degree with a GIS certificate or significant GIS coursework.

• Experience as a GIS Analyst/Consultant

• Demonstrated expert with Esri’s ArcGIS products.

• Previous experience in professional services or consulting industry.

• Advanced knowledge of data mapping (source-to-target) and data migration processes and tools.

• Advanced experience developing training materials and delivery end user training.

• Experience leading project activities / teams and application of structured implementation project methodologies and tools.

• Possess knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Experience with diagramming/drawing software (e.g., MS Visio).

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with and/or knowledge of Linear Referencing Systems (LRS).

• Experience with and/or knowledge of SQL Server and/or Oracle.

• Experience with and/or knowledge of Python scripting.

• Experience with and or knowledge of Esri’s Workflow Manager, Data Reviewer and Advanced Linear Referencing Extensions.

• Experience with non-Esri GIS solutions (e.g., Map Info, Geo Media, Geo Cortex)

• Knowledge of SAP Geographic Enablement Framework (GEF)
