About the role
The PRN Obstetrician-Gynecologist at Wellstar MCG Augusta will deliver comprehensive inpatient obstetric and gynaecological care, including labour and delivery management, operative deliveries, and emergency management. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, resident and medical student education, and participation in quality improvement initiatives. Candidates must hold an MD or DO, be board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and be eligible for unrestricted Georgia medical licensure and hospital privileges. Prior teaching experience and high-volume obstetrics are preferred. The PRN board-certified or board-eligible Obstetrician-Gynecologist at Wellstar MCG Augusta will join a collaborative academic hospitalist division, providing comprehensive inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care in a high-volume, tertiary referral centre. The role focuses on delivering acute obstetric care, supporting resident education, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. Physicians will work within a multidisciplinary team, supervise residents and medical students, and contribute to clinical autonomy and patient safety. Job Summary:
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Wellstar MCG Augusta is seeking a PRN board-certified/board-eligible Obstetrician-Gynecologist to join our expanding Wellstar Medical Group OB Hospitalist Division.
Our hospitalists practice in a collaborative academic environment alongside Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology, General OB/GYN faculty, residents, medical students, certified nurse midwives, and advanced practice providers.
As one of Georgia’s busiest obstetric centers, our physicians care for a diverse patient population while contributing to resident education, quality improvement, and innovative models of obstetric care.
Position Highlights:

Clinical Responsibilities:
Hospitalists provide comprehensive inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care including:

Labor and delivery management
-
Vaginal and cesarean deliveries
-
Operative vaginal delivery
-
Obstetric emergencies
-
Postpartum care
-
Gynecologic emergency consultations and surgeries (2-3 gyn emergencies per 24h shift)

Emergency Department consultations
-
Supervision of OB Emergency Department
-
Support of antepartum patients
-
Collaboration with academic physicians, midwives, MFM, anesthesia, neonatology, emergency medicine, and nursing
Hospitalists also serve as attending physicians supervising OB/GYN residents and medical students in accordance with ACGME standards.
