About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Head of Quant COO (CIB Business Management Director) in Corporate & Investment Banking as part of COO supporting Markets. This role provides executive-level operational leadership for the front office quantitative platform across Markets and CIB.

The Head of Quant COO serves as a key interface between Quantitative Analytics, Trading, Risk, and governance forums to ensure strong business performance while maintaining regulatory and control discipline. Beyond maintaining “run-the-bank” stability, this role partners with senior leadership to advance “change-the-bank” initiatives, including the coordination and integration of quantitative functions into a more unified oversight and operating framework.

In this role, you will:

Operating Model & Strategic Execution

  • Partner with senior leadership to establish and drive a consistent operating framework across Quant teams, ensuring alignment in governance, prioritization, and execution
  • Provide senior oversight of large, multi‑quarter regulatory and strategic programs
  • Partner with Technology, AI & Innovation and Data to strengthen Quant capabilities and enhance visibility into risk, performance, and model metrics

Financial & Human Capital Management

  • Support financial planning activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and management of vendor-related costs
  • Shape forward‑looking financial and human capital strategies aligned with Markets and firm‑wide growth objectives

Model Lifecycle & Regulatory Delivery

  • Ensure timely, controlled execution of model lifecycle activities while coordinating delivery across Quants, Model Governance, validation, Risk and Technology in line with Model Risk Management requirements
  • Lead preparation for audits, regulatory exams, and ongoing supervisory engagement, ensuring high‑quality execution evidence and documentation

Stakeholder Leadership

  • Lead recurring governance and delivery forums to align priorities, drive execution discipline and proactively manage delivery risk
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for model stakeholders across development and lifecycle activities

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of corporate & investment banking business management or leadership experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Management or leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or a related Quantitative field
  • Senior‑level experience in Quantitative Analytics, Model Risk, Front Office COO, or related functions within a large financial institution
  • Deep understanding of model lifecycle management, regulatory expectations, and governance frameworks
  • Proven track record leading complex, cross‑functional delivery in highly regulated environments
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence skills
  • Experience delivering quant and technology initiatives, including regulatory model requirements
  • Proficiency with Jira or similar delivery and workflow management platforms
  • SDLC experience across Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Strong analytical judgment with confidence to challenge when appropriate

Job Expectations:

  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • 30% of travel

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$250,000.00 - $420,000.00
